Orange broadband massive saving for loyal customer

It's called a retention deal and not a major secret0

I was a Wanadoo customer and have stuck with Orange Broadband (£18 per month). As I am getting a laptop I thought I'd look into deals with other ISPs where a wireless router is provided rather than fork out for one in PC World. I can switch for £7.50 per month plus a free router with 02. Result! I thought.
When I phoned Orange they offered me the same deal for what works out as £5 a month for a year.
Beats me why anyone would buy a router.
Part of me thinks I have massively reduced my costs. Another part thinks I have been overpaying for ages!
If you don't ask you don't get I suppose.....0 -
I was offered that too - 6 months free then 9.99 a month for last 6 months. On a 12 month contract. BUT this has a 10gb usage limit. Beware......
The other option was again 6 months free and then 17.99 month for following 6 months on a 12 month contract. This has usage limit.
I took the latter, was paying £19.99 months so got 6 months free and then £2 discount per month.:beer:TB0 -
so, update to my above post, i went with the offer i was given, 6 months free then £10 a month after that with free livebox. this was on the 31st of july, (couldve been 1st of august) had a couple of emails saying thanks for changing to a new package and one saying ive now been changed and am in my 12 month contract, and my speeds changed, from around 2.2mbps to about 5.5, sometimes goes down to around 4.5mbps. although i havent noticed any difference, probably becasue im still using my adsl modem, as before, i havent received my Livebox yet,
should i start asking where it is? or give it another couple of days? they said 10 working days for everything to be set up0 -

RETENTION Broadband Plus £9.99 - Up to 8 Meg speed, 2GB usage allowance, includes Wireless and Talk
So it only says 2Gb usage, not the 10Gb I was promised on the phone. I was just wondering what other people's accounts say, whether it's a typo or if I need to ring them to clarify. Lower down, it says my speed is 6Mb, despite Samknows saying the exchange is capable of 8Mb or more, and my house is only 200m from it. Various speed tests have shown I'm averaging 3Mb, and only 3.5Mb at best (I'm aware of the 10day period but the connection speeds have been consistent after the first couple of days).
mine says
RETENTION Broadband Plus £9.99 - Up to 8 Meg speed, 2GB usage allowance, includes Wireless and Talk
I'm glad i saw your post, cos i could have sworn i was offered 10Gb dl limit too, and mine says 4.5 mb speed, its faster than that at the moment, 5.6, i think im gonna call just to check on stuff0 -
I contacted Orange yesterday for a relative who was coming to the end of their last 12 month contract.
They instantly offered 6 months free and then £9.99 per month on a 12 month contract, so £5 per month. An increase in speed to the maximum the exchange supported, and a free wireless router modem (to be returned if the contract is ever ended).
To resurrect an old thread from a year ago. The last contract had come to the end of the 12 month period, another call to Orange, and the same offer as before. 6 months free and then £9.99 per month on a 12 month contract (so £5 per month) at the maximum speed the exchange supports.0 -
I've been with them also since the freeserve days, but today I finally got a mac code..........I was on a retention deal of £12 month with a livebox, but they put it up to £20 as with a lot of others to offset a price increase by bt........I've constantly rang retentions and been told the best they could do is home starter for £17 a month. To cap it all when they changed my account last week they put the wrong package on, have billed me twice and my speed has dropped drastically..........so I've now got a choice of bt for 12.99 a month or talk talk .
btw to get through to Orange on a freephone uk manned call centre call 0800 9801492
Glad some of you got a good deal but its the end of the road for myself and Orange

Cripes, I'm paying £27 for orange 8mb uncapped and with the free secondary phone line.
Cost wasn't an issue before as my company paid for it. now they are withdrawing the privilege as they say broadband is common place such as water and electricity!
so yes time to haggle with them!!
Looking about similar packages are in the £12-£17 region, but not many with the free secondary line.0 -
