Selling tactic. Having an Advantage Gold account won't show to lenders (they can't see lender names, as a general rule), and unless NatWest started reporting your account conduct where they hadn't before there'd be no change to your file.
Natwest dont record account conduct until you have defaulted or what ever, banks that do record account conduct that I know of are: Alliance and Leicester all three CRA's, LLoyds TSB all three CRA's, Barclays Equifax.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Are you sure? I had a Card Plus account with them which appeared on my file, and right now I have a completely unused Current Plus which is showing up as a couple of Us.

HSBC do, certainly. Not sure which ones, but my Bank Account shows up on my Experian file at least.

Also, it only appeared after it was upgraded to a full account from a basic one.

ah they might be doing it now then.

Thanks Jonnno, if say you had been discharged 10 years ago, could you open a general current account? Or upgrade later if the account was ran well.
I guess my line of thought is; if you answer Yes to bankruptcy, is it the same as if it happened a year ago or 25 years ago!

    Bo

tbh i dont no, all I would say is if you can only get a step account now, wait 3-6 months and ask someone to try and open you a current account, and see what happens.
I work in a NatWest branch, any information I provide should be taken as general. See you local branch for advice, but any questions feel free to ask me.

I also got accepted for a advantage gold account on friday even though my credit rating is poor .. the manager said that i should run it for 3 months and if i find that the benefit are of no advantage to contact her and she will down grade my account. She also said that the account will improve my credit rating ?? is that right ? or was that just a selling tactic ??

A current account does help towards your credit score, the ad gold does nothing more to it than a standard current plus account.

If you downgrade the ad gold within 90 days you get your money back.

At the moment I have a Yorkie Bank account even though basic it comes with a Maestro card. But I also like to be near to a branch and I am miles away from my nearest branch.(YB)
Many moons ago I used to bank with Natwest and thought they were a good bank. I liked the internet bank system too.
I'll see how my friend goes on opening a step account.
  • Update: Letter arrived this morning saying 'I am delighted to welcome you to Natwest' this letter also includes new new sort code and account number :)

However, Under 'Card Type' it says CashCard which suggests i will only get a solo card? I have a Visa Debit card with Halifax with the £100 cheque.

Anyway i can get Natwest to give me a meastro card? My local garage does not accept solo, so the account is no good without one :-(

Cashcard is solo yes. You might have to wait 3 months to get one. Just dont get any charges in this time!

Thanks Jonno, What do you think the chances are of me getting a meastro in 3 months though? I don't want to move away from Halifax if i have to wait longer than 3 months?
