I love this forum
I have been using a Nationwide Flex accout debit card to withdraw cash in California. Up to a month ago Citbank ATMs were charging no fee on using my Nationside card at their machine. Now its $3.
All good things come to an end!
but:
Any recent knowledge about Banks in CA that don't charge a fee for using a 'foreign' debit card. I read earlier that supermarket ATM's dont charge? Any info on this? Which ones etc?
Regards,
Moto

We've used our Nationwide cards in Walmart and Target in Nevada and California last year, without charge. Also used a Bank of America ATM in San Francisco, without charge.
All last summer.0 -
I believe all branches of Washington Mutual also don't charge users of other banks (including Nationwide users). What goes around - comes around

hi,
I always try to use HSBC with my Nationwide debit card. There was one on every corner in New York. Rightly or wrongly, I just think if anything is wrong, once you get home to GB, you could go into a local branch for help. Sally0 -
SallySaver.
No HSBC in California or at least very few and not anywhere near where i live (San Diego) but thanks for the info nonetheless. Presumably there is no HSBC charge at the ATM for using the Nationwide card?

Bank of America is always the one that is stated as never charging. You can check on the ATM as it clearly states on the side of the screen. I am going to NY in 2 weeks so hope no probs over there with my flex account.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"0 -
Well it seems that Bank of America now charges $3 so i will have to check out the other Target etc grocery store ATM's.
Something must have changed as i am only using a Nationwide debit card to withdraw.
