Janey, I think I've done it :D We are ultra competitive and both have about £2000 of debt to go. He has a bit more than I do now, but he works atm, and I can't start for 7 weeks. The solution: a race :rotfl: If it works then we can race to 2k savings as well- I figure that if we have 4k between us we'll be able to move out together. We're aiming to move to another town, into a rented flat. I think that should be enough

Excellent idea Bluefleur! It should add a little bit of fun into frugalling, as well. You never know - the debts may disappear really quickly now there are two of you focussing on the same things and that would more than speed up the savings plan. Well done and good luck!

Now for a quick question - I want to plant some lettuce, carrots and peas but don't have much by way of choiuce for making the purchases. If anyone hears of or sees any bargains, freebies in magazines, vouchers, coupons or offers for seeds, please let me know asap. I've been checking online but not managed to get anything yet. I don't want to spend a fortune as it needs to come out of my grocery challenge money. I'm off to search the auctions now :)

  • hya everyone, you all have been really busy and well done to those who won on the Grand National

Shouldve been my (Ithink it wouldve been my 3rd NSD weekend in a row) but I had to buy tin foil, was sure I had some but it turns out when I thought Id bought tin foil it was actually cling film....GRRRR......I never use cling film. I get into so much of a guddle trying to tear a bit off.

All this talk about animals, I was driving up to OH's this afternoon and couldnt believe my eyes .....at the side of the motorway (M77) were mummy deers and wee bambi's........no they werent squished , which is what my OH thought I was going to say !!!!! It was so cute they were just grazing away.

Havent seen any lambs yet though.

Though I did pull some lamb kebabs from the depths of the freezer to feed DS a wee snack:rotfl:

I sympathise. I received Tuesday and Wednesday a whole load of text messages (not so nice ones) form my ex and have been congratulating myself for not allowing to get upset over it. Blissfull silence since Wednesday. Only problem is that DD has wanted to call her dad and I have so far been fobbing her off. Not fair on her.

Hi Mini, you can't be that far away from me as it's the A77 I use going to my parents; haven't seen any deer recently but have definitely seen loads of lambs (including the 2 in the neighbour's garden).

:T I found loads of seeds for sale! Cheapest I could find on eBay were 99p including p&p for small packs, but I found large packs at 99p with BOGOF and 45p P&P on an eBid seed store, so I've ordered carrots and mixed salad leaves. (On the store main page, scroll down and they have a link to BOGOF items.) :) That'll give me something to plant next weekend once they arrive. I'm happy now, found a bargain and am just awaiting combined invoice to see if I can save a few pence more on the p&p - am I cheeky asking, or what? :rotfl:

  • nyk, Im a fair bit away from you but mebbe your parents are not too far from my OH, I come off the M77 heading towards Giffnock

will try that site for seeds tho, I was thinking of growing potatoes in pots this year....am not really a gardener but I loved my pots of salad leaves last year, was lovely going out to pick them, but I was watching Jamie at home tonite and TBH he didnt seem to be getting many potatoes out of a gro bag.

Am going to check out the council landfill site tomorrow as residents can get 2 bags of compost (each visit) from whats been composted from the brown bins......just wait and see, I'll bet there's nothing left by the time I get there
