  • Janey am so glad you're posting, when I heard your very sad news I felt so sad and shocked, just the way I'd feel as if it had happened to one of my "real life" friends.....if you know what I mean!!!!

Your very descriptive posts about Tom were very funny and I think everyone on here has an image in their heads. The way you described him has left me thinking that he was a very content man who loved life

The next few days will be very difficult but we're all thinking of you . Sophiesmum said everything we all feel

Its 3.30 in the morning and here I am with you all in this little oasis of calm.

Tom would not have been surprised. I used to read some of the posts out to him and he was trying in his own generous way to be part of the frugal lifestyle.
I think the supermarkets loved him, In Tom's world, "Buy one, get one free" really meant "Buy 10, get 10 free" :D And he had the means to build the storage space to keep all his supplies in case Armageddon arrived :T

He loved Charity shops. And bags. Whenever I let him loose on his own, he would come home with another holdall/rucksack/canvas bag. He came up with the great explanation that it was cheaper buying these for 50p than buying Mr T's bags for life.
And when I wanted biscuits at 10,30 at night with an empty cupboard, he would disapper and 30 mins later, a plate full of homemade heaven would be dished up.
He even tried to make me chocolate one night out of cocoa and butter which left the kitchen looking like a bomb site.

He will leave an unfillable void in this world and in my heart.

Janey....you are in my prayers sweetie.:A

Had a bad week as far as groceries go! Have had to dip into next weeks budget which I have never done before. Bloomin' supermarkets hoiking their prices. OH and I have come up with a cunning plan;) I have 500 nectar point on my card and he has 1000. We are going in tomorrow armed with them, to wage a war on Mr. S as it will be our little way of getting back, and our aim is to get as as much stuff as possible without paying for it.:D So I will return and let you know how much groceries we have managed to get. Before you all reel in horror....we are using our Nectar points, then Mr.S can go jump!
We get most of our food stuff from the local high street and butchers anyhow....nicer people and better quality, plus we have noticed that things work out cheaper.

I'm off to put the 'free' chicken in the oven now and prepare the veg for lunch,(also free). OH father always pays for our Sunday lunch, as long as we make him one too!:D

Janey, that was a lovely post from you. You've really brought into focus what matters - living life to the full with those you love, no matter what your income.

Thank you, and hello to everybody else.

Feels strange putting this in the same post but does anyone have experience of doing Harrison Interactive's surveys? The pay is in Amazon vouchers and I'm trying to decide whether I want to be doing all those surveys or not - I already do the YouGov ones but those seem to be getting less frequent. Any advice from you experienced 'surveyors' out there?

    Morning Frunchkins:D

Janey - You will always have a void in your heart, that is the proof of how much Tom meant to you, you will always have your memories of the lovely times you spent together to help fill the void.
We are all still thinking about you and are here if you need us:A Take care X X X

Nyk- We are waiting for you to update us on DD's frugarty:D Hope you managed to bite your tongue and be civil to ex OH for the night;) . You must be absolutely shattered after all the preparations and looking after houseguests, hope you don't have a hangover to contend with this morning:D

Funbrum - Good luck with the revenge assault on Mr S;)

Today I am doing Christmas in June for the oldies. We will be having the whole caboodle, turkey with all the trimmings, xmas pud. mince pies, cream. coffee and mints, wine, tables set with all the posh stuff and centrepieces etc, xmas music, tree, xmas choc novelties, and a santa with gifts for everyone.I will try and post some pics later. Need to get going in a while and get the tables set and the prep started.

I have not decided it i should nip to tesco t get some of that 50p mince that i only found out about today.. and which ends today. Or have a nsd and go to the park and feed ducks. If i go tesco means £2.40 bus plus my shopping...maybe i could take £10 and see how much i can get i guess. Also need shopping too.

Nyk talking of shopping with £10... can we have another mini challenge :)

I need to add 95p to my "final" declared spends for second quarter 08 :rotfl:

Bought a copy of 'the news of the world' a thoroughly abysmal publication, but there's a £5 off £30 tesco spend voucher in there so well worth getting :D There's a tv guide in there too, so that might come in useful :)

I'm adamant that I won't be spending anything else til July (lol goin food shopping tuesday after work, so July 1st ;)).

I think I have the ingredients needed to make a cheese and tomato pie in the fridge+cupboards so time for another potentially disasterous kitchen adventure for MrDT today :rotfl:
