As in 'THE' talk? I never did managed that with the ex, GOOD LUCK!

I'm thinking that it's best to be single during the week of a full moon - every month, without fail, we hear of man trouble. :rotfl: I think I'll forewarn everyone next month of when to start watching for symptoms of this strange phenomenon, hereinafter known as, 'frugalunar masculyndrom'. I've heard that you can banish it by lighting several candles during the 24 hours prior to every full moon. :rotfl:

    Hi Everyone,
Just popping on for a minute while tea is cooking in oven. Marru stop reading now if you haven't eaten:p , having butternut squash, stuffed with feta cheese, chives, and black olives and oven baked till soft, yummy:D and some salad etc from garden.
Been picking a bit of stuff tonight that was ready, salad leaves, chives, radish, loads of rhubarb (for crumbles/pies) a big bowl of gooseberries and a handful of strawberries. There are now oodles of little tomatoes in my baskets.

Spent £1.20 on the butternut squash but have saved all the seeds and intend to recoup my investment next year. There will be too many for me to use anyway so will have some spare if anyone wants a few. Contingency fund now down to £98.00:rolleyes:

Just checking out butternut squash growing and found this info - will definately be doing some now next year. Lots of squashes on each plant and stores well too. Just down my street. We love butternut squash:D

There were over 100 seeds in that one squash;) I am now on a mission to collect for free enough seeds to start my veggies off next year at little cost.

Sophiesmum - why don't you write a cook book? The title could be: Delicious frugal treats for the whole family

I will be first in line to purchase it.

On a serious note I would love to have the recipes for the stuffed mushrooms and stuffed butternut squash. They both sound delish! And no I haven't eaten yet. It will be: boiled potatoes, fried mushrooms (going off soon) and some chili beans (Mr T) sprinkled with grated cheese. And I am making this worse for myself as I am watching "come dine with me" while I wait for the potatoes to cook. Plums cooked in Port!!! OOOH!

I've been working late at night and getting up early to do more work and now it's reached the point where I'm falling asleep on my feet ....Sophiesmum, the male courgette flowers look closed and the female ones look open. Once you've got a few to compare you'll see. 'Scuse me, must go to bed now, never mind that it's broad daylight, nite nite everyone.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Will look at them more closely next time I am in greenhouse.;) Fritters may be on the menu yet:D

Tonight i have been onto the local council website and have put my name down for an allotment locally. Don't know how long I will have to wait but I want to be able to grow more stuff that takes space up.

After my reduced fruit and veg bargains the other night I thought I would have a wander down around the same time to see if this was a regular time for the reductions. Jackpot:D I got two lots of broccoli 5p each, two punnets of raspberries 5p each, two mangoes 5p each, tray of sweet peppers 5p, bag of shredded cabbage 5p, and a cooked chicken for 50p:D lots of goodies for total spend of 90p. There was lots and lots of stuff but I only bought what I will use in the next couple of days, there is no point just buying it for the sake of it, and it lets someone else have a bargain too:D
Contingency fund is now down to £97.10
Must remember to save the seeds from the sweet peppers too;) . Need to decide what to make with it now, except the chicken which got snaffled mostly by OH at suppertime.

"THE talk" about our finances, or lack of them, went remarkably well. I pointed out what was going on/wrong, he listened, agreed with my suggestions and went to bed .... I'm a very lucky lady:j.

It's down to me now - I'm going to need all your help, kicks in rear included ;)

    Sleep well,

    DG

If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!! :D
