Aaww, thanks bails
I don't think they'd be unhappy exactly and they do like him... I can just see them being a bit sceptical, you know, and not thinking that we'd end up staying together... they assumed we were breaking up when I moved away to uni. I guess I don't want to have to justify our relationship to them
and like I said we can't live together for 2 more years yet anyway so there's no massive rush even though I wanna tell everyone
Hope people are having nice days despite the grotty weather and that things are looking up after all the bad days yesterday. I had my first exam this morning and my hand hurts - too much time on the laptop I think!! Three to go...Live on £4000 a Year Challenge member

I'm having a wonderful duvet day, snuggled on the sofa watching The Sound of Music for the umpteenth time.
H2B is at work, DS is at grandparents and MIL is chilling out in her room.
I have decided on a cupcake wedding cake, with a proper top tier and the cupcakes in perspex boxes (there is a reason for this; we need the wedding cake at different functions two weeks apart and can't have fruit cake for the whole thing). I am fairly confident we can cobble it together ourselves!
Have decided roughly on the invitations, so will be making them myself (and will need to get a shift on).
Have decided on Chinese fortune cookies as 'favours'. Need to spk with some Chinese restauranteurs we know to find a good place to source them.
Getting quite excited. I have been reading Ms Thrift's wedding thread and only got up to page 8!!!!!:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

Sending you good wishes for the hospital trip Janey, you sound very well prepared, hope OH doesn't get too nervous.
Well done on the overpayments Whitewing, v impressive!
Sorry about the lack of visitors DraigGoch, if you invite me over I'll be more than willing to help you demolish your 90 (!) Twinks
Nyk, the parents' names just made me think Jammie Dodger... :rotfl:Hope you can come up with something and win the £50!
OH has redeemed himself (helped by me taking a lovely long country walk) by cooking a yummy dahl; now off for a long soak
I think Jammie Dodger would be a great name for the donkey!! :T0 -
It has been another glorious day here, yet again, so I was surprised when I came on here and read Bails' post about the horrid weather! I have been outside in the garden all day, only popping in to make up rolls with sausage and then, later, a syrup sponge - everything as quick as possible so as not to miss any sunshine. It was still extremely windy up until about 5pm but it's settled now. Friend arrived for cuppa and, whilst showing off my new greenhouse, it almost took off when a huge gust of wind blew through the open door! Thankfully, friend is also a scout leader, so the greenhouse now has guy ropes on pegs made from branches. :rotfl: HS gutted the old garden shed, so it just needs the roof fixing to turn it into a [STRIKE]quail house[/STRIKE] err... who said that? I meant wood store! The wind has brought down so many branches that we now have 4 huge boxes of sticks and the sand sack is filling nicely. And apparently, we can buy a trailerload of logs for £40, so I'm going to get some as soon as the garage is cleared out.
Andromache - we (all 150'ish of us) won't mention a thing about the ring but we can all celebrate on your behalf - silently, in secret. Just don't let on to your parents when they do find out that we all knew first.
Lyndasharp - I'm on your side as far as the house is concerned. If it's a home rather than an investment you are looking for, then the time to buy is when it's right for you. Good luck, haggle them down 20% if you can, apparently the market is quite slow at the moment.
Bails, if you have enjoyed going to the music-fests in the past then go for it! We can guarantee there will always be bills but we can never guarantee our own health or wealth - go for it and have a fantastic time! Think of it as investing in a shared memory for when you are both retired, sitting by the fire, reminiscing over a mug of steaming hot cocoa.
Whitewing - sorry for being so forgetful but can you remind me of the date you booked for getting married. Mummy hen forgot to mark it in her diary. OH! The confetti table sprinkles/decorations at Tesco are still on offer with the extra points! I've ordered some for DD's party. You also get cashback via Topcashback when buying from Partybox - I love that site, it has a 'design your own' section - and there's cashback available from eBay. I got 77p from clicking the link from there to buy my greenhouse and the same seller has marquees listed.
Beautiful deep pink sky here now, so I'm guessing that tomorrow may be another fine day. I'm on the lookout for a )free) 50 gallon drum to use as a water butt, as my buckets are all long since emptied. Resorted to hosepipe for watering the veggies but they are, at least, still surviving. I can't believe how fast garlic sprouts! I've planted more around the edges of veggie plot to try to deter beasties and I have the holly branches dotted about to fend off the cats. I've also started saving my eggshells and have been putting them along the edge of plot to stop snails. Meed to make my own plant food next, found a 'recipe' for compost tea.
Hope everyone had a really great holiday weekend, commiserations to those who had to work and, I almost forgot, Longleat looks a fantastic place to visit! I watch the programme on sunday mornings if I remember!I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I was quite fed up when I saw the state of my lotty yesterday - the grass really was 3' high. Anyway, today I spent the whole day out there. There was no rain until 6.30 but I had to come in to get tea anyway. But the wind was sooooo wearing and noisy and made me thirsty too. My neighbours tree snapped clean off at about 8' so I had to help saw it up and we added it to our wood pile (arm size thickness) We had just finished when a huge thick (thigh size) branch fell from my chesnut tree. We pushed and pulled and got it moved but will have to await a man to cut it. So sad that the shape is spoiled and the wound will need levelling as it is a nasty tear.
Am I daft??
Amazingly the strawberries are looking fantastic now they are clear of grass but so many huge slugs and snails. I hate putting pellets down but did anyway (just a few) as it started to rain. I cleared up then felt guilty, so I put on my rubber gloves and went looking over the whole plot for slugs and snails. I rescued about 70 and will take them to the old quarry tomorrow. I hope I wont find too many dead tomorrow.
Tomorrow I have to dig all day as I have so many plants ready go go in - beans (runner, broad and French) onions, leeks, potatoes, beetroot, courgette, pumpkin, peas, sweetcorn so far.
Bails - I think you should go to the concert too, for the same reasons at nykmedia said.
nykmedia - my garlic is sprouting in the fridge:o , do you plant cooking gaglic or that sold for the garden?
It's been a no spend, no heating, no telly, no oven day today :jDoing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -

Hi,
Just a quick one this morning.
Firstly thanks for Bails who saved the day yesterday by inviting us for visit. As it was still pouring rain it was lovely break from puzzles (and we did get to see the kittens again). I am afraid it might take Bails a week to recover from our visit.
Took my car in this morning and thanking all the gods and goddesses getting it fixed cost me nothing!!! :T I was told it was a rubber mount (?) rubbing against the exhaust and as they had just done the exhaust for me couple of weeks ago and the job took only few minutes they didn't charge. Funny thing is that my car clock hasn't worked in years and after what they did this morning it started to work again. Mystery.
Haven't had my first cup of tea yet so better get that sorted now.
According to the weather forecast next 36 hours it shall be lovely weather in Scotland but England and Wales is taking the downpours.
Despite that have a great day everybody!

Good Morning All. Woken today to noisy drilling and then the doorbell went. Extremely apologetic neighbour whose workmen turned up early. Always happens at half term!
Completely out of bread and milk so will need to fit in a Widl (as my son likes to refer to it) shop, and a Tesco shop for fruit and salad. That reminds me; thanks bails for the tip on the OU and Tesco points. Looks promising. Have told H2B but he hasn't had a chance to look yet at what courses they offer. If there's anything suitable, we may have to start building up points.
Date of wedding is 8th Aug. Am going to look at wedding dresses tomorrow but H2B doesn't know! Told DS (he won't say a word). The nice thing about being in my mid-thirties is that I know what I like and don't like when I've tried it on, so am hopeful that I'll find something. Going to a shop I read about on Mrs Thrift's thread that specialises in plus sizes. I liked their website.
Janey, hope all goes well tomorrow. And everyone else, have a fabulous day.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0
