redglass yes, we did know about the chimney lining. It was done when we had our present logburner installed 3 yrs ago...hope it hasn't changed since
Nyk congrats to DD  and I love donkeysI think I will follow your example and have a Mr T order delivered to my Mum's as they don't deliver to us.
MrDT I am a natural "End of the World" and "Armageddon is just over the Horizon" type person:rotfl: so I will be checking out the zombie website.
Marru hope the weather improved. We have had glorious sunshine and have been outside all day. I have planted up loads of tubs and baskets and will be relying on my sister in law to keep an eye on them while we are away next week.
I will not be posting for a few days as DH will be in need of a soothing hand on his brow. He has never been in hospital before and is a little nervous
I have made frugal plans for looking after myself. I have rented an apartment for 4 nights and will be walking the 2 miles to the hospital to save on taxi fares and save my nerves from driving round a strange city
I will have a kitchen so can cook cheap meals and not have to rely on carryouts.
See you all next weekend :wave:0 -

Janey,
Wishing you both all the best. I am sure everything will go fine. Just take care of yourself as well.

Janey - hope everything goes alright for OH and you survive the city! Re the MrT's order - I'll PM you the details of how I did it, as I got £7 off my order plus £5 cashback for using a cashback site.
and don't forget to register your clubcard, so they send you details of extra points etc - I used all the online points vouchers from last time. The Mr T thread on MSE is a real eye-opener! It's almost like a fulltime job!
Baby donkey needs a name - anyone got any suggestions? Mum and dad are called Sammie and Jacko. They are charging £1 per entry and offering £50 cash prize as well as naming the baby donkeyI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Hello people.
Been at work today. They are still 'investigating' my issue but have decided they owe me an extra £60 for a smaller issue (they only owe me £30 for that but won't actually admit they made a mistake) so I'm not complaining.
Anyway, I have no idea from a budget point of view how I am doing. But, I have had a look at my mortgage overpayments spreadsheet and since January, we have made £3451.25 in overpayments alone. So something is going right!!!!! Shame the wedding will divert more overpayments. Oops, did I really say that. The wedding of course is an investment into a happy, stable future.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Hope all goes well with the hospital visit and the staying over, Janey.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

Sending you good wishes for the hospital trip Janey, you sound very well prepared, hope OH doesn't get too nervous.
Well done on the overpayments Whitewing, v impressive!
Sorry about the lack of visitors DraigGoch, if you invite me over I'll be more than willing to help you demolish your 90 (!) Twinks
Nyk, the parents' names just made me think Jammie Dodger... :rotfl:Hope you can come up with something and win the £50!
OH has redeemed himself (helped by me taking a lovely long country walk) by cooking a yummy dahl; now off for a long soakThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Hi everyone, Oh dear, I had to go all the way back to page 86 to catch up. I learned this weekend here the expression 'I've lost the plot' comes from, it must have been someone with an allottment that looks like mine - I really can't see where it [STRIKE]was[/STRIKE] is. It has disappeared under 3' of grass and logs. The grass is as high at the raspberries:eek:
mumsy your posts make me laugh too, coming and going and starting again - just stay and keep writing. I gave up ages ago but I do my best and log everything on my homemade spread sheet. As a houshold we are way over but I split it in two - me and DH. I am under but DH is way over and just do it as my personal challenge as I will never get him on board, in fact, if he thinks I'm cutting back I think he goes out of the way to stop it. We have such different attitudes to money and foodso I don't get stressed anymore.
Who had a naughty male guinea pig a few pages back? Perhaps he should be neutered? He may be happier. I have two rescues and I hope they are both female:o , or male - well they look the same.
Jaynie, I hope your DH is OK and your week tooDoing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
Jaynie, hope everything goes well for your DH's hospital visit.
I had a great time at Longleat on Saturday! We never even had time to see the safari section, but got passport tickets so we can go back another time. Went round Lord Bath's murals - I really don't know how his family can live with those all over the walls! I found a £2 off voucher, thanks for people's tips - though OH paid for my ticket anyway, as I'd driven there and made the picnic. Just added up and I have £30 left until the end of May, think I'll be under budget (as long as I don't need to buy petrol) :-)
Off to look at a house tomorrow evening. Slightly over budget, but perfect location, and at the moment I think I'm in a good position to negotiate as a FTB. I know people on the house board are saying don't buy, but I'm 28, and I've had enough of shared houses. The guys at work keep giving me furniture, so I won't need to buy anything for the house at this rate!Live on £11k in 20110 -
Glad you had fun at Longleat Lynda, I haven't been there for YEARS even though it's only down the road! I'd love to go again... I know what you mean about shared houses, you do just get to a point where enough is enough. Are you near me and Marru or was Longleat just a day trip?
The weather here is atrocious!! Had a real craving for white toast this morningbut there was no way I was going outside, I'd have drowned
Wrestling with myself big time about actually spending the money to go to the music festival. I THINK I may have convinced myself by saying we'll use some of the money we've saved this year...but I haven't parted with any cash yet and we'd fly on Thursday! :rotfl:The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000
