Welcome MrDT :T I only joined last month, and there seem to be a few other fairly new people at the moment :D

Thank you Kittikins. I'm feeling better today, trying to stick to the lemons = lemonade theory! :o

My mission for today is to clear out junk from my room. I've not sold on ebay, and I'm not sure it'd be worth it in my case. But I might be able to scrounge enough together to have a car boot sale or something. Its weird- MSE is having a knock on effect in other areas of my life. As well as sorting out money, I'm a lot more positive, becoming more organised and I've even lost weight

I still panic at the bad things, but am much, much better at 'getting over' stuff now.

Just made my phonecall and it wasn't nearly as bad as I'd feared. Not necessarily the most desirable outcome, but one based on mutual respect.

OH has gone into town with MIL to try and sort out a temping job. They register and then wait. They don't make things happen (partly cultural, but does my head in). I think OH is beginning to get the painful message. I will say at this point that he is absolutely lovely, kind and caring. Just not always too good at taking on board new things. Likes his comfort zone, and is therefore reliable and sturdy. Unfortunately for him, current circumstances dictate that things need to change. He is a very, very talented individual though. Bless him.

I've done loads this morning, so am smiling!

Morning everyone and welcome to MrTD! :hello: Sounds like you've got the idea of this challenge, good luck with it! Glad to see the challenge is having such a great effect on all areas of people's lives :T It's the same in this house - OH is currently kneading dough inbetween working on his project, we've both just Ebayed something and I'm about to plant some veg seeds :j

    Kittikins
, thanks for the betting tip, I'll add it to my list and see if I can get round to it (dabbled before so not sure how much I'd stand to make this time).

Whitewing, I agree with staying strong to avoid setting a precedent - I love FunBrum's saying about lying down! OHs can be frustrating, especially artistic ones, but he's obviously worth it.

I'm intrigued by the DT thang too, can't see what people can get so heated about so might have to sneak over for a peek if I can find it :D

I freeze allsorts of cheeses with no problems too, they just go a bit crumbly so you can grate them first. I buy it when it's on offer, no more full price cheese for me!

As for the Interest Beater challenge, it's great that selling my old stuff can count, the problem is that I hate doing it  I find it such a bore - along with the bingo sites, with you there Sophiesmum - but I know it would be so great to get rid of everything and make some cash. Kick up the jacksy from anyone please? Oh, and OH has hindered the process by saying he really likes the jumper I bought yesterday to sell on... decisions, decisions! :D
Have a fab day everyone, enjoy the luxury at your gran's Mumzy.

Hi Bails - I'm not planning on doing any betting other than this "free" one, I haven't ventured onto the matched betting threads, I know some people have made loads of money doing it, but gambling just scares me a bit to be honest! It was so quick and easy, I just picked a horse that I liked the name of, have no idea whether he's a good'un or not, and don't really care, as I've not actually spent any money.

I just wanted the £30 from Quidco. I've had about £300 out of them this year alone :j

    Hi everyone:D
Just popping in to catch up , its lunch hour and need my daily midday fix of mse;)
    Welcome to MrDT:D
Not much happening here today, trying not to spend any money after OH's drill yesterday:o so will not be going anywhere tonight and will keep my eyes closed to all bargains when I shop for oldies this afternoon. Shouldn't really complain about OH spending as he is the person who never goes anywhere to spend any, and never asks for anything ever:A He is really quite cheap to keep.

Whitewing hope you get over your frustrations with OH and MIL attitudes, must be hard adapting to different cultural expectations and finding middle ground.

Mumzy enjoy your pampering at grans, don't forget to post before you fly off to cyprus and leave us all in the cold:rolleyes:

Bails I am still trying to work up the enthusiasm to do the free bingo_pale_

Will probably run a sweepstake for the oldies for the Grand National so will have a dabble on that at weekend as i usually pick the donkey every year so won't be betting otherwise.

I'm really sorry, this is totally off topic but I have smoke coming out of my ears.

We have just applied for PP to do a major renovation on our wreck of a home. If we get permission, we are going to need to stay in a mobile home in the garden, we being 2 adults, 1 toddler and lots (and I mean lots) of animals.

DH who is lovely and works really hard has just decided that he wants a marine fish tank. Great I say, as soon as the work is done to the house, lets get a really nice one set up.

But no, apparently he wants a 5 foot tank NOW and I am just being negative/ controlling/ mean/ unsupportive etc. pointing out that the last thing we need to add to the caravan equation is 5 foot of delicate, sensitive, heat seeking fish! We do have a tank at the mo, covered in algae but full of thriving catfish but apparently that doesn't count...

    And relax....... :rotfl:

Thank you, I feel better now....

catshark, from one control freak to another, I just say, have a hug and don't give in.

I nearly wavered with my OH (he looks so sad) but then I checked online banking and am feeling strong (and control freakish, again).

Day 3 and another NSD!! I'm sure all hell with break loose in the next day or so when the gas etc starts flying out of my bank account!

Hope the soup went ok :)

Need to make some bread, but not sure if I can be bothered. Still feel run down with this cold thing which, mixed with going back to work is making me feel tired.

EDIT: I've chucked some ingredients in the BM, i've also added chopped dried apricots, prunes and dates to make it a fruit loaf so I can take some to work tomorrow, as it's my 'long' day and I get a bit shaky around 1 if I don't eat anything. i finish at 2 but can't quite make it to there without anything to eat and that will mean spending money unless I make something!

Hi all! I haven't posted yet on the shiny new thread, because, well, not much has been happening! I'm just sitting at home revising and consequently not spending any money :rotfl:

I'm looking forward to a frugaltastic anniversary tomorrow though, so I'll actually be leaving the house! I managed to get one of the Hoxton £1 rooms, and that combined with half-price champagne and other frugal treats should make for a very nice day I think :D

Anyway, thought I'd say :T to the new and returning challengers, and GLGL to those of you who are trying to persuade yourselves to do the free bingo thing... honestly, just have it in the background whilst you're doing something else... I've made *checks spreadsheet* (yep Lollopy I also have a geeky Excel thing going on! :p) £242.01 in winnings and £50 in cashback, and I only spent an afternoon or so on it. And people who've tried harder have made even more... go on...
