TTDB - couldn't you call the bank and explain it's running a day late because of the bank holiday? Or your internet connection went down, or you were away or just plain grovel if you have never missed the payment before... got to be worth a try, especially if you have savings with the bank. They won't want to risk losing you as a customer because your savings are what they borrow from you in the first place.I reserve the right not to spend.

Good luck, hope you get the refund.
I'm amidst doing end of year returns (work related, not mine) and can't believe how much banks charge businesses! This particular account has gone overdrawn by literally a couple of pounds, so the bank charged £40 for unauthorised overdraft!! Then another £110 to arrange an actual overdraft facility! So, for a £500 overdraft, it cost this person £150 to get it set up and they are being charge.... HOW MUCH????????! That is an absolute disgrace!  Sorry, gotta go check these figures, they cannot possibly be correct!!
EDITED IN: OK, I have been and confirmed that the details I read ares, in fact, CORRECT!
Interest rate: 7% over bank's base rate
Unarranged overdraft interest: 29.5%
Arrangement fee: £110
Bear in mind that if you are self-employed you MUST carry out your business related financial transactions via a legitimate business account. EVERY transaction costs you.
Withdrawing cash, writing cheques, direc debits, paying in (this one makes me furious!!) and any automated transactions such as BACS etc.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Ummm - I am not doing it - will I get fined? I used to have one but got so fed up with the costs so closed it down. I think Abbey has the best offer for business accounts - perhaps I should get my act together and open one..."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Marru, if you accept PayPal then they have the option of a business account. Likewise, sites like eBid and eBay need you to declare business or personal, so opt for the business account and price everything to cover the fees wherever the payments get made and keep records of all your dealings. (Selling off your own personal goods doesn't count as business.) If it's your homebased business, such as dog-walking, ask your local enterprise or development agency about what kind of account you should have as I don't think it's permissible to pay business takings into a personal account. Of course, it might be completely different outside of Scotland
I've just read my daily email from Mr Stepek and today he is pointing out that we can expect to see a 5% increase in costs of cheap imported clothing. I'm really beginning to think that a clothing co-operative is what's needed, a bit like a swapshop/bring and buy/online giveaway type thing. Being me at my best (head in the clouds) I came up with a brilliant idea for this some time ago but, as per usual, never acted on it! It's along the lines of an online trading challenge just for secondhand clothes with a 'buy it now' option to cover the cost of postage & packaging. I am totally inspired by this and am taking it on to a more relevant thread, sorry to go off topic - I got excited by the thought of rejuvenating an old idea
Edited in: OK, I have now rejuvenated the idea and posted it in the Interest Beater challengeI reserve the right not to spend.

Happy Birthday Sophiesmum! I hope somewhere in your day you get pampered as you always do so much for others.
TTDB, really hope you can get the charge refunded, such a pain.
Mumzy, have a lovely time at your sister's.
Nyk, did you get a bingo bonus in the end? It's crazy having to pay those figures for things with the bank
BTW, I'm still addicted to the idea of the cob houseThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Hi Bails, I never got a bonus, so I'm guessing that no friends have signed up and I haven't played through enough cash recently (£1) :rotfl:
The cob houses look great, but I'm not sure that they would cope with Scottish weather... what if my house got washed away? I need something wind and watertight, close to the ground so it doesn't get blown away and space enough for an office. Hmm... why do nissen huts spring to mind? :rotfl:
Had to go check out Nissen huts!!!
Someone correct me if I am wrong - isn't there a funny rule somewhere that states that if you can erect a building within a day then you don't need planning permission?
Check out what it says about Nissen huts!! :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.

Ok you have convinced me. [strike]If[/strike] When I get that piece of land for my small holding I shall have a cob house for myself and a Nissen hut for stabling.
I just moment ago was congratulating myself for a NSD today and then remembered that my car is in the garage today . I have enjoyed driving the courtesy car around thou.
I am going to play tonight in linked games in bingo with my bonus - wish me luck (my £20 winnings are safely tucked away - thanks Nyk - don't dare to withdraw them as scared that it will void my bonus).
Enjoy the day everyone!
Marru
