Evenin all! Just a quick post from me as i'm shattered after a manic and not very friendly day of work. (Note to self:be less emotional, lol) AM still amused by the igboo too...nuf said. Wanted to say hello, and that I hope everyone is ok, and not all copying the pet getters! (Although I really want a dog......*sigh*) I go now, to be emotional in my duvet with a book an a cuppa tea. I know its early, but i'm earning a bit of extra cash tomorrow by painting a work colleagues bathroom - silly me said I would be there at 8.30... then i'm driving up to my OH's for the rest of the weekend..they live 100 miles away (*double sigh as I needed them when I got home
) ..at least the painting will pay for the petrol...!!
So, I go now, I stop bambling (a cross between babbling and rambling, I do it all the time) and just go. See? I'm gone! ..or..not! Yes..no..ye.e.e.es...no! Yes.Pirategirl says; 'He likes to butt things with his head...'

Hello fellow frugalists!
Have been popping in regularly as one of those naughty unsigned in lurkers to keep up to date with all your doings but a chunk of my spare time is now being spent studying for a work course in the evening which neither leaves a lot of time for serious frugalling nor spending either however:D
I sat here yesterday feeling decidely smug attired in my 10p necklace, my 10p skirt, my 3.99 charity shop jumper, my free cardy my friend had bequeathed to me [one of those impulse buys she made and had never worn..I felt it my duty not to waste it] all coordinated [I'm a bit anal about having colours matched] with my 10p cagoule hanging on the peg when I read about Jumble Bee's 4p coat. Definitely back to the drawing board as a mere second hand or should that read vintage frugal amateur!!OH is still competing in the gnat bottom stakes and has done the shopping for the last couple of weeks due to my current workload. Under his direction we have trialled some new value goods which have passed the taste test. He even struck off a couple of items off the list tonight which we already had lurking in the fridge and I had commited the ultimate grocery challenge sin and forgotten to check:eek: However, my weekly whoopsie walk around Mr S after work on a Thursday has sadly become an event in itself in my little social life. Last night I picked up a bag of organic baby potatoes for 20p and could be heard throughout the store loudly tsking tsking with my frugal hat firmly on when I realised they had originally been priced at £2.99 even though I wasn't paying that:D Then we bought one of their Chinese takeway meals...you won't find the word 'takeaway' in any decent frugal dictionary you'll have to resort to the OED to find out its true meaning. Pah me repentant:rotfl::rotfl:Never! We got the bag of it for less than half price and a bag of posh prawn crackers for FREE....3 of us fed for £6 for our Beltane treat:beer:
Anyway have a productive frugalling weekend...other than working I shall be glued to the snooker:D

Bails, I was thinking it was a bit weird that whoever used your account never took out more than £353, because I've heard about people being fleeced for a lot more. But then I remembered - being an A&L customer myself - that when you empty your account with A &L your debit card/cash card just stops working, period, so it sounds as if they arranged an overdraft and then blew it. I agree that you need to contact A&L, PDQ, and you might also find it helpful to contact the Citizens' Advice Bureau. As it happens, you're the second one I've heard of this week. A student of mine had her bank account cleared out by a company who took her details for an online purchase, but she did get it all put back into her acount by the bank. Good luck.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

Bails I strongly suspect that what's happened is not what others have said.
If you don't use your A&L account, after a few months they will write to you telling you that you are not meeting the account's Ts & Cs because there is a £500 minimum monthly funding requirement.
If you don't fund the account, they'll levy an under-funding charge of £5 per month. If you don't have any money to pay that £5 per month, you'll go into unauthorised overdraft and then be charged more for that.
You would have had a letter before the first under-funding charge was levied, warning you about this.
But if you failed to keep A&L notified of your current address, it's not surprising that you might have missed a letter like this.0 -
Hi Marky, hope you get your stuff or lack of) sorted out soon, you know us frugalers won't be straying far from here so this (financial) fold is always ready for your return. Good idea about requesting a simple multi-quote system - if it's really, really simple0

mollymop. good for you making a stand about the awful nurse.0

To multi-quote a number of posts, you simply click the MULTI-QUOTE button on each post you want to quote, and then click the final one's QUOTE button, and they are all quoted one after another.
I'm sure this is very simple but I can feel my brain glazing over.....0 -
Evening all. One very tired frugalite saying goodnight. Considering my contract says 20 hrs I have worked 38 this week and travelling on top. Still love the job but need a day off.0

I thought it best to de-lurk and say hi. I popped into the bingo chat late last night and caused a bit of confusion as to who I was
I've been reading your posts with interest from the start but I'm not actually doing your challenge. I'm a recent single mum (the single bit is recent, not the mum!) and I'm panicking about finances hence reading your posts for frugalling tips. I haven't won on the bingo yet but will pop in whenever I can on Thursdays. I'm taking lunch to work, whoopsie hunting, couponing, selling on Ebay/Amazon and doing loads of daily clicks.
Good luck with your challenge everyone :jCos I don't shine if you don't shine.0 -
mollymunchkin :hello: Welcome to the madness that is Frugal Land. If you find a cure for Galloping Frugalitis, let us know.
I actually parted with hard cash yesterday. Had a panic when I couldn't remember how to open my purseAnd what did I buy?
A hedgehog bank :rotfl: for the huge sum of 50p :j
It will be the home for my 1p collection which is just thrown into an old plastic cup at the moment.
My other saving recepticals are:
Wooden box made by DH for 2p, 5p and 20p saved from housekeeping saving.
A pottery dog bought for £1 in Wilkinsons and a pig DH bought me for 50p in a charity shop both for change from my personal money.
My Terramundi bought by my friends when I left my last job. Think this may be dedicated to saving for a very special holiday next year.
I do still struggle with putting money into a non interest bearing savings box but there is nothing to compare with feeling the pig/box/hedgehog putting on weight :T
I think I am in serious danger of becoming a wizened old hoarder guarding the silver coins while staring at a couple of bits of coal and eating mouldy bread and cheese.
Talking of which...found a piece of cheese from DH's impromptu party the other week which had a serious case of penicillin. So I have carefully pared it all off
Guess whose DH will be having cheese and onion sandwiches for tea :rolleyes:0
