I think I am in serious danger of becoming a wizened old hoarder guarding the silver coins while staring at a couple of bits of coal and eating mouldy bread and cheese.
We had a visit from the council's eco person at work yesterday to check we were turning off lights/computers and recycling etc. The boss bought her into my classroom which was a hive of recycling activity because I am too stingy too waste anything. I explained my dislike of buying anything if it can be avoided, especially something new  . The car boot sale is splashing out to meShe told me I was advocating 'sustainable living'.
Henceforth I am no longer frugal/mean/ stingy, I am an eco advocate of sustainable living0 -
Pirategirl hi. Missed welcoming you before.
Bambling is a wonderful word and worthy of including in our Frugal Dictionary I think ...that is if Nyk approves.
Aril welcome again. I totally identify with the visit to the supermarket being such a huge social event :rotfl: I am always there as the doors open at 8am and hover around the people putting those wonderful "reduced" stickers on things. The glue barely has a chance to take hold before said item has leapt into my trolley.
bails love your animal stories. Our 3 cats are all rescue cats and I love them to bits.
Yesterday we went to a local animal sanctuary and made friends with pot bellied pigs and goatsThey have a little shop selling bric a brac and we got a couple of good books for our holidays, a Catherine Cookson for my sister, the hedgepig, a couple of Victorian style brass wall light fittings to be converted to candle holders for our revamped dining room and 3 pottery quiche dishes all for £4.50 :T
We took a load of stuff for them to sell at an up and coming open day they are having. Some is quite collectable but we felt their need was greater than ours.
Think I'd better stop posting as I'm monopolising things a bit. Sorry fellow frugallers0 -

I think "Frugaller" trips off the tongue a little easier.0 -
Good morning fellow frugallers and eco advocates;)
Was woken this morning by the fire alarm which one of oldies had set off burning their brekkie. Had to deal with 6 hunky firemen whilst wearing my pj's:D , (knew there were some perks to this job:j ).
Plans for today include, making bread, starting new batch of kefir, working on veggie patch and greenhouse, and sorting out my budgets. Have spent £4.60 this weekso happy about that.Trying to have another no spend day today.
Have a good day everyone, it is bright and sunny here today so off out in garden to make the most of it:D . Enjoy your weekend, catch up with you all later.0 -
OMG!
I managed to have a no spend day at Mr T's yesterday (very rare).
Been busy in the kitchen too, millionth atempt at making bread (got some help on another thread), freezing cheap veg yesterday, making mash potato for the freezer and planting a few more veg in my garden.
Got a chicken in the Slow cooker now, thought I'd have a nice curry and then make some pies with the rest.
Going to make some sweet stuff too - problem with freezing everything is that......... I NEED A NEW FREEZER :rotfl:Got no space left!
I keep reading about a giant jaffa cake so might look that up and have a go at it.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

Have just calculated my spends for April which come in at a very disrespectful £818.63:eek:  !
Having a frugal day today, have the raised beds erected just need to get some more compost and I can get going in earnest.
Will have to look at the spending again and see what I can shave off for next month and where I am going wrong
Was just wondering who will be the first to reach their target figure and when at this rate I will be hitting mine sooner than I want to:embarasseLive on a little over £4k challenge

Hello to the other Molly, sorry if we traumatised you on Thursday night - it was frugal fun and we thought you were Mollymop from this thread - OOPS!
Janey - nice seeing you catching up and well done on the bargains! I'm getting jealous of everyone's bargains these days because there aren't enough places to bargain hunt where I live - unless you want books, as I live in the national book town! :rotfl:
I liked the sound of hunky firemen, eco advocate of sustainable living sound most impressive and I now want both the cow milk bottle AND the hedgebank.Have fun everyone, I'll catch up properly later on this afternoon. I'm just nipping up to the market to stick my potted plants on the end of friend's stall without him noticing.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
