Crazyposhgal,
I am indeedy! Should be a good night (I'm really excited!) but don't fancy trekking back out of London after it's all over. Nevermind - will just need to have a look for a Travelodge or something.
Hi Chrissy,
First things first - don't panic! Most stuff can be sorted out successfully if you approach it in the right way...
I used to work in a posh hotel managing their room reservations (I should add it wasn't at the Hoxton hehe) and I have to say it could get really quite stressful, especially when we were running a major promotion. Right now the staff will be swamped with phones ringing off the hook - people will be calling to confirm, cancel, query, shout about the website / server connection, etc. And when your phone rings again the second you hang up from being yelled at, even if you try really hard to help your customers normally, you probably won't be feeling too flexible at that point! If you caught someone at that point of their day, then they might have been more strict re cancellations than they normally would be (can't speak for the Hoxton, I am talking in general about hotels).
So what I would suggest is ... take a deep breath and make yourself a cuppa. At about 3 or 4pm today, call them back and be really nice to whoever it is! Say "Sorry to call, sure you must have had a manic afternoon what with the online sale etc ... but I'm hoping you can help me out with this situ ... basically what happened is ... and explain what happened and why". Try not to have a go at the hotel e.g. don't say it was misleading necess, just say that you found it confusing and you really can't afford £99 and you don't know what to do.
Make suggestions - if they say sorry but you can't cancel (or if you do you will be charged full price for it) ask if you can transfer the booking to someone else's name. Or can they try to re-sell the room on your behalf and if they succeed, you won't get charged. Etc etc. If they won't be flexible ask to speak to their manager and if you still have no joy, leave it til Monday and send an email complaining - again politely and constructively, with suggestions on how it could be fixed!
OK - that's the best advice I can give really - you can PM me if you like. But am sure it will work out okayTarget debt - Loan left over from previous relationship - c. £3700

Thank you for the replies - I called them and explained I'd booked the £99 room in error and they cancelled it with no questions asked. Thank god - that was a bit hairy for a while!!
I'll be sure to know what I'm booking next time...

Oh dear. I have a confirmation for 1x£1 room and 2x£29 room. Seems my £29 room went through twice. Will need to contact them later to get it cancelled!0

They have 15 twin rooms, but you can only request a twin sale room, it cannot be guaranteed. In saying that I've been twice and had a twin room twice, never had any problems, tho I always put a request in the comment box when reserving.

Hi
I managed to get one room for the day I wanted and printed the reservation confirmed page, only to check my email and I found two confirmation emails with different confirmation numbers for the same night!
Would they consider it as double booking and I lose out? I gave them a call and the girl said she can not do anything about it and I need to wait and call later to see what to do!
Did anybody get the same issue in the past and solved to their wish?
Many thanks:oBe nice, life is too short to be anything else.0 -

It's the first time I have tried for this offer and I have successfully managed to book a £1 room:j - twice:eek:
The screen was saying service unavailable so I kept trying and now I have 2 confirmation emails for the same night. I have sent them an email explaining and just hope they don't cancel both as I had no way of knowing until I got the emails afterwards.

Um, if they are all in your name, I'm sorry to say you've broken the terms & conditions and will have all your reservations cancelled. You are only allowed one night for £1 and one night for £29.
Hi ya Mr. H
I just checked the terms and conditions - you're right on one night booking per person for £1 rooms
No mention on one night booking per person for £29 rooms though.0
