  • Despite my broadband connection working(!) fine & me clicking on the £1 button...absolutley NOTHING happened??? After 10 mins of clicking around, suddenly the box display changed, from the one with a "no entry" emblem! Being a first time user on this offer, I didn't know the signs to look for & from reading a lot of the tips/faq's,etc, was unaware that the display box had to turn yellow/orange, for it to work?!? So, it was about 12.12 by the time I'd sussed that out...& u can guess the rest:mad:
Bloody annoying, as it gets u in a bit of a mood(not great that when it's the wife's birthday;) ), so i guess i just have to put it down to experience,eh.
Mind you, we have two teenage children,so maybe it was an omen & we'll find something for the four of us(I have my 40th in June, so that's whst we're looking for).
But this has not been a great first experience of following an MSE offer.
    Can only get better
  • I am an idiot.

I was trying to book a room under your special offer of £1 or £29 for a room, and the system didn't seem to allow me to do it. The initial booking form said that the "daily rate" was £99. I understand that. But I was expecting further information regarding any special offers that were available, or at least a page that showed "your booking details"....these were nowhere to be seen. It just went from "finish reservation" to "agree T&Cs" and then BEFORE I knew it I had paid £99 for a hotel room. I really can't afford this, and now they won't let me cancel. Is this correct - can they do that? I feel really strongly that I was tricked into buying the expensive room - it was not clear on the page I visited on the website that there was a DIFFERENT BOOKING FORM for the special offers.

This method of enticing people to purchase the expensive rooms is dishonest and I would like to cancel this booking and be refunded my money. I feel like crying!!

Any advice welcomed, and yes I know.."if it sounds too good to be true it usually is"...and this is my own stupid fault!!!!!!

I think 2 £29 rooms are OK, just not £1. If anyone got a date they can't use I'd gladly reimburse you for it. The electrician was here fixing my fridge and I couldn't even try to get a room.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

For anyone looking to ring Hoxton about their bookings for any reason, I just phoned and she said the reservations won't show on their system for another 15-20 minutes.

Does anyone know how it works if you've booked two rooms (obviously in seperate bookings)...I assume they bundle it into one for you rather than making you check out and back in again?

They are not all in my name. I booked the hen weekend in others (6 people going and 2 to a room makes 3 rooms) and the show weekend in mine.

I was only after one! How did you manage 3 in different names and the other weekend in yours???
  • Disappointed - tried to get one night - I know of four other people trying at the same time but screens stayed blank, black screens. No access at all to even try. Then told all £1 and £29 rooms sold out.

The best mse offers are on the site for a while before they make the weekly email. When they do go on the email, because it goes to so many people, they often disappear very quickly as the offer givers are overwhelmed. So stick around donpeacock- there are loads of bargains around and next time the hoxton offer is on you'll be ready...:p

Your best bet Chrissy is to not admit any fault of your own about it (a bit like an insurance claim :p) and tell them you thought you had booked a £1 room and then you got the confirmation for £99 and explain that you completely can't afford it. Their servers have been so messed up today I'm sure its a viable excuse.

If that doesn't work, try contacting your c/card company.
