This is nice, but would recommend a hire car, as a bit out of the way. My parents lived in Protaras and I just love it there. :)
MrsE was pretty much spot on with this one - but it is booked for when we can go! Aaargh...

Jennie - it doesn't fit all your requirements - you won't be very close to a beach and need tr travel a little for restaurants- but we stayed at the Villa Angela in Armou, Nr Paphos in 2006 and it was beautiful (it is still my son's favourite holiday and he has been to Orlando!). Incredible views and a lovely pool. Booked direct with the owner from ownersdirect.com . She was really helpful and we were given her mobile number for texting while there, just in case we encountered any problems (which we didn't) I will go look for a link for you and come back and edit. If you want anymore information, do ask. I also have a link to photos we took when there which I would be happy to send to you.

In 2006, the neighbours one side were expats and really quiet - they seemed to be out more than in. The other side were locals and we saw them hanging out their washing. They didn't have a pool so we tended to be the noisy ones (within reason) There were a few more villas on the row - really beautiful places, but we never saw a soul using them.

We rented two cars between us from a guy called Dino (Mum had used him before) and he dropped them at the airport and collected on return. He did us a great deal as we prebooked.

Oooooohhhhhh, makes me want to go back.

I must admit that it looks GORGEOUS..........

We're a right lot - its just that its soo annoying if you need a pint of milk or some tabs for a hangover - you have to get in the car and drive..

We've had that before, and as we all work so damn hard, we are looking to be lazy and very slovenly... and private and - oh, we need a desert island with a shop/restaurant.... :o

With everyones help, think we have got it narrowed down to two. We're meeting tonight to discuss it and choose one.

What's the betting they'll be booked when we eventually get around to doing anything about it!! :o

    I'll keep you informed. :D

Unlikely unless I get the lottery up or Mr B gives me a freebie!

He did personally upgrade me and my dad a few years back on our return from San Francisco. Upper class - it was fantastic, I even got taken up to the cockpit and shown the northern lights. The cabin crew were fantastic, spoilt my dad rotten. I loved Virgin Atlantic - ah those were the days............

Back to earth now..... and poor (ish) :o

  • It's a while since I've been to Cyprus (15 years). Then the south would have been the most popular as a tourist destination. If you went for a trip into the north you had to make sure they didn't stamp your passport as you wouldn't have got back into the south because they hated each other. I know things have changed now and the north is becoming more popular and a lot of Brits are buying property there now so maybe that's why it's still a bit cheaper. I'm sure someone else will have more info.

Especially in the north of Cyprus if buying an older property. There's a possibility that property could have been owned by a Greek-Cypriot family who were forced to flee to the south of the island when the Turks invaded northern Cyprus back in 1974. Imagine one day in the not so distant future perhaps, a friendly Greek-Cypriot knocks on your door in let's say Kyrenia. He says: "Thank you for looking after my property. Now I would like it back, please". When I was in Cyprus I heard about EU court rulings finding in favour of the pre '74 property owners.
The same goes the other way round when buying in the South. That house or land could have been owned by a Turkish-Cypriot. Do lots of homework before buying property in Cyprus.

Nearly booked a Villa in Cyprus.... its available..

Now we are trying to see what flights are available. We need to go mid week, a Thursday would be perfect.

So far - it looks like Heathrow  (T5????) for around £100 or Stansted :D for around £250 :o

Stansted would be soooooooooo perfect for us but the price difference is so great and the flight we've seen so far is with Cyprus Airlines. Anyone used them?? The best airport the other end is Paphos.

Appreciate any help - yet again :D

Send me a link to the villa Jeanie?

    I'm nosey:o

You probably don't need to rush too much with the flights do you?
If you have a good look around you might find cheaper.

You could post what you need flight wise on the holidays board, from to times people traveling ect, see if anyone knows any cheaper?
