  • I don't see why that wouldn't work but I would question why you think you actually need an antibacterial hand-wash. Soap and good hot water kills a lot of germs on its own quite well.

have just filled up my 5th soap pump from my 89p Mr S bubble bath and just wanted to say thanks to the tv star who came up with a great OS and :money:idea I would have never thought of. You have saved me loads!
I bought one from Morrisons for - 19p (it's their value and blue - it's ever so thick...) and no-one's noticed yet...;)

To those adverts that say 'if it's not dirty, wash it at 30' - I say, 'if it's not dirty, why wash it at all?!'

I do all my washing at 30' no matter how dirty:D. Its very rare anything comes out of the machine after washing that is still dirty...if it is I just pop it back in with the next load. I do so much washing its never a hastle;). I also do everything on a quick/daily wash as none of us are miners:rotfl:!

When I met my (now ex OH) we both had our own homes and HE had a couple of sets of flanellette sheets (lemon and white) that were actually on the mean size (for doubles). When I was pregnant (with DS as it turned out) I cut these down to make cot sheets and moses basket sheets. Since my sister gifted me her other bedding I didn't need to buy ANY. (I think she was using her cot sheets as draw sheets for her DS)

(A draw sheet is a smaller sheet that goes over the middle of the bed over a rubber sheet also in the middle of the bed if you have a bedwetter.)

I have young kids so washing hands in hot water isnt an option. They do use warm water but because of the sort of nasties that kids catch from school, I have always bought an antibacterial handwash for them. Not sure if its necessary, and it doesnt cost anymore than the non antibacterial ones from asda, but it does makes me feel better buying it:rotfl:!!

    Hi

Can gloop be used in a dishwasher as well as washing machine?

    Thanks

nuttybaby - that's an interesting question which I'm sure a number of us would like the answer to. Unfortunately I haven't made any gloop yet as I've still got a supply of laundry/dishwaher detergent to work my way through but if anybody tries it, I'm sure we will be interested to hear how you get on. The fact that it's fairly thick suggests that it would comfortably fit in the dishwasher tablet container and gradually dissolve as the hot water passes though it?

my mate answered the question for me!! She made up some gloop at the weekend after I told her about it and put it in the dishwasher and said her dishes came up sparkling. She said she usually has to put some stuff back in with dishwasher tabs but with gloop she didnt!!!

I am still a bit nervous about the idea of using soap to clean dishes though!! What does everyone else think?

I have just read some of the thread about making Gloop. I would like to have a go at the weekend - bearing in mind that people say it sets like blamange - can I ask - what would be a suitable container to store it in (I have visions of the kitchen floor being covered in the stuff as I try and dislodge it from a bottle.
I use Ecover at the moment - but it's costing between £4 - £4.50 for the privilage.

I found a plastic box I had from something else which holds 5 litres so I poured it into that, first time i just left it in the plastic buck with a bin liner over it.
Basically it just needs to be something with a lid/covering
