To those adverts that say 'if it's not dirty, wash it at 30' - I say, 'if it's not dirty, why wash it at all?!'

Just for curiosity sake, how often do people wash their jeans? I mean if they have no obvous stains?

  • It depends on how "smart" your jeans are. When I was a scruffy teenager they got washed about once a fortnight but that was mainly because I had to do my own laundry. Oh, and indolence of course plus it was considered a bit tight-ar*ed to not leave denims until they could almost stand up on their own.

The main issue with denim is that they tend to bag at the knees after a wear or two and that just might not be the look you're aiming for.

value shampoo works also works well - if you look at the ingredients on a bottle of shampoo, bubble bath, shower gel or handwash they are pretty much the same.

I tried the value shampoos before and they left my hair feeling awful afterwards. Its the one thing I don't compromise on.

I've been doing the bath foam in the soap dispenser for a long time, currently using a cheapy pink one from Sains and its good. I've decided to go one step further and try a fairly simple shampoo/shower gel/bath foam for hair /shower and hand wash

Just as Stardrops does all the jobs that we are told we need expensive chemicals for, I'm sure one bottle of foamy stuff would do for all my ablutions. :D
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

My OH likes the Lynx Shock Mint shower gel, about £2 at Boots. Tesco's basic 10p shower gel, (the blue one) with a few drops of peppermint essential oil decanted into the empty Lynx bottle and it looks and smells like the real thing. ;)

Yes It was white and smells of coconut and is a moisturising one, it's lovely! Shame I only ever bother having a shower:rotfl:

I use it as shower gel - works fine and doesn't dry your skin.

sorry, I was replying to a question about using them as handwash - no I wouldn't wash my hair with value shampoo either.

  • Can you turn shower gel into an antibacterial handwash by adding tea tree oil or something similiar to it? As long as its not too strong smelling id love to try it as I spend a small fortune on handwash!
