It is geting bad that before you even set foot outside the house to go shopping, you go to the Tesco on line site to see what is on offer.

Hi Rosemary54, thanks for asking. The reason that I keep my peanuts in a tin is because my OH hasn't got the best movements in his hands and often breaks the bag and I will come home and find the peanuts or whatever is being stored in a bag on the floor or on the worktop. I store coffee, rice etc in jars to avoid it being wasted and to save my OH a lot of frustration. Also, I find it handy as well as it saves me to wash a bowl everytime peanuts is being served.

Last weekend we used an offer at Sainsbury's and bought bags with peanuts who had an extra 20% in it and could refill the tin for half the price compared to buying the tin.

Hope it all makes sense now.

I am so proud of myself this morning. Not starting until 2 pm today I took the opportunity to clean our bathroom cabinett and write a content list of all my toilietries to stop myself from getting tempted to buy more. Buying toiletries is my weakness and I can easily spend a fortune on this. The list I have put in my purse so when I go shopping I can see what I need to buy or not buy. Having loads of toiletries tucked away that I had forgotten that I had it should be a while until I need to buy some more.

Our bathroom cabinett is really too small for us, so I changed the location of one of the shelves and to utilise the space I tried to group toiletries that I use together to stand one bottle at the back and then at the front I put the item that I use with it. My OH has been moaning for months that the bathroom looks cluttered and having put twice the amount in the cabinett, the bathroom looks so much better now. I have also made a promise to myself to use up those nearly empty bottles/tubs first in order to reduce the amount that I have got as quickly as possible.

Next to do is the freezer content list.

Have u joined the no buying no toiletries challenge till i have used what i have got? May help you stay motivated. Also i have sold some of my toiletries on ebay and made an extra £40

Thanks Skaps, well done for making an extra £40 on your toiletries. Where do I find that thread?

I wouldn't be very pleased if I bought my daily paper and found someone had snitched the freebie

  • :Dwhen I use herbs and spices like pesto, minced ginger, chilli etc I freeze them in shallow tubs and then cut the spice-ice lolly into small pieces about a tsp in size . I can put these straight into my cooking and the rest will last for ever in the freezer.

...and I would be fuming at the "snitcher" if it was a DVD I wanted myself - as I would have gone back to the shop specially if need be to ask for MY dvd.

I often give the free DVDs away - but I am the one that decides who gets them - I dont expect some stranger to decide that THEY would be the person I would give MY dvd to. I have often turned round and offered my dvd or something to a total stranger - but that is my choice to do so then - and it gives me a smile for the day when the person concerned goes "Thank you - its just my taste actually".

 I DO dislike people trying to save money at other peoples expense:mad: - and "snitcher" isnt actually the word I would have used:cool:

If you were that keen to get the dvd without paying for it - then why didnt you just wait for the next customer to come along buying that particular newspaper and if they clearly didnt want their dvd themselves then say to them "Excuse me - if you dont want your dvd I wonder if you'd mind if I have it please - as its just my taste". If someone had said that to me and smiled pleasantly - i would have just handed it to them and I think a lot of others would too. (I think there are probably a reasonable size group of people who have been brought up to think in terms of giving away anything that they dont actually require themselves to someone else who WOULD like it.)
