ASDA recently (hmmm, maybe 6 months ago???) had a childrens book giveaway thingamy in conjunction with a newspaper - you had to take a token to customer service, and collect the book from there - I think it was one book a day for five days.
I only remembered on I think it was day 4, after I'd picked up a leftover newspaper at my work and ran down with the token. I could see a huge big box of books behind the counter filled with all the previous days books. I asked the guy behind the counter, if I could find all the previous days tokens (by asking friends) would he let me come back tomorrow with the tokens and collect them then .... he just handed them too me and said not to worry about the tokens, he was pleased to give them to someone who really wanted them.
I guess what I'm trying to say is we've gone a wee bit off topic, and trying to be totally objective, it doesn't sound as though Julie was attempting to be deceiptful, however, I respect that not everyone agrees with the method of obtaining the dvd.
I could do with a tip on how to eek out some scrambled eggs - I seem to go through at least 12 making scrambley for only 4 people. Do others have this too?0 -
I usually use about 6 to make scrambled for 3 of us - but can be less if I want to. Firstly, I always add a dash of milk to the mix. When we were younger, mum would add a LARGE dash of milk and also one of water to spread 4 eggs around 8 people (she was still doing this when the 6 kids ranged from 16 down to 6 - then she started to use more eggs).
Do you have anything else to add to the mix - some cheese, tomato, sliced pepperoni/salami, sliced ham, smoked salmon pieces? One tomato, diced up small, can actually make it feel like a much bigger dish. The meats/fish ideas (only 1 at a time though) don't need a lot but can make a small dish feel like a full meal very easily - I buy a tub of Lidl salami and just use 2/3 slices chopped into strips. A slice of ham leftover from weekday lunches, or the end pieces of salmon off the skin (or the packs they have to sell off after Christmas - stuck in freezer and then take a couple of slices out as needed) do the same.
And definitely serve it on lots of toast - brown does seem to make you feel fuller - and have more toast for jam and butter afterwards!!GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

Perhaps the question to ask yourself is how many eggs would you do for each person if you were doing boiled, poached or fried eggs. If you do only 1 per person then why not do the same for scrambled?
I also agree with winged one about adding a dash of milk and using brown bread toast. I also add a nugget of butter when the eggs are almost done.
I occasionally use 2 eggs for scrambled but mostly only 1 - and these are medium eggs, not large. I use a non-stick pan and a scraper to get out the last little bits.0 -

try less eggs and more filling eg bulky but cheap mushrooms, sweet peppers, cooked leftover eggs etc. maybe experiment.
or get some chickens!!0 -
I use 6 eggs for 4 of us and add a splash of milk.
Hubby likes some diced salami in his if he's the only one having any.0 -
Add a slice of white bread made into crumbs to your scrambled eggs mixture before cooking. I use one slice for 4 people(8 eggs). It can be handy if you are an egg short too.0

Brilliant ideas everyone, thanks!!
I would love, love, love, chickens, but as most of Januarys £60 shopping budget has already gone towards the pets, DH won't even entertain the thought!!!!
I like the idea of some extra veggy's (tomato, pepper, mushroom), I've done it with smoked salmon (Xmas brekky one year) but it made it a bit salty for the kids. I'm veggy, they're not - so would need to be either some veg or fish to bulk it out.
I made my tiny DD3 some scrambly on toast for pre-school breks this morning and used 3 eggs - she did eat it all, but it just made me wonder.
I'm also loving the tip of using the non-stick pan and spatula, half of mine seems to end up stuck to the pot (I micro ours as this is the preferred texture), I might give that a go too!
Now I'm off to look up a recipe for veggy haggis! I'm sure I must have most of the ingredients lying around somewhere!!!0 -

If you do it in the micro I think it should be even easier to scrape the sides. (I have to be a bit cautious because I don't want to melt the plastic spatula I use.) Someone posted fairly recently about perfect microwave scrambled - unfortunately, I can't remember who or what thread. But it was all about doing the eggs in short blasts and scraping off the sides and mixing the mixture with a fork after each blast0 -
When I have time I use one egg per person, whisk the whites to a stiff-ish froth then fold them into the beaten yolks. It only really works in the micro, for me at least, as I seem to be a bit heavy handed with the pan method and knock the air out. With the micro method you just have to mix it through gently once or twice. It gves a lovely full creamy texture, goes a long way and saves having to wash a horrid pan. It also works very well for omelettes, browning the top under a hot grill rather than turning..I believe the 'official' name for it is souffle omelette. Useful when you want something to look impressive on a tight budget.0
