    frugal Feb starts on monday!

challenge is to buy no new clothes/tolietries/make up and to use food in freezer/cupboards as much as possible and only buy essentila fresh food.........should make for interesting meals:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Rosemary54, I am starting Frugal Feb tomorrow as well. In January I have done a freezer content list for our 2 freezers and another content list for the cupboard. Lots more in there than I had expected so it will much easier for us to meal plan and use what we have got. I have also done a toiletries list so will not buy anymore of that for at least 2 months.

Off to put the slow cooker on now. We are doing slow braised beef and barley today.

    Good luck with frugal Feb.

We're doing that too - though we are going away in February - thanks to my sister-in-law, who is paying for us to go to France/Switzerland with her - so I want to run the freezer down. First holiday in years (also means we will have some euros)

Have a lovely holiday in France/Switzerland. Enjoy!

Good luck with running down what you have got in your freezer.

Another way to sharpen scissors is to cut some sandpaper with them.

Or cut some tinfoil with them that helps

i also found, quite by accident, that cutting steel wool pads into smaller squares (never need a whole one and once used the remainder just rusts) my scissors were always lovely and sharp after that... hmm that reminds me i have some scissors that could do with a sharpening, maybe i should put steel wool pads on my shopping list!

You know, I was thinking about the ways of sharpening scissors when it occurred to me (don't know why it hadn't before!) that they would be an excellent way of sharpening pinking shears which are expensive to replace.

Hi everyone, I am trying to think of ways to use my microwave more as it sits in the kitchen. I tried poached eggs today - I over cooked them and now need to clean the microwave :rotfl: I tried for 2 minutes in a microwave saucepan with a little water...
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

There's not much worse than exploding eggs ! Last two occasions I have tried to reheat bacon in the micro, i burnt it to beyond a cinder. It actually burnt through my lock and lock tupperware box!:rotfl:
