children EAT toilet paper
its the only explanation
3 girlies in our house
(i am including myself there:D)
and we go through mountains of Andrex a week
son & DH are no better than the girls either
I bet the husband in the OP used it instead of a kitchen cloth and wiped up EVERYTHING with it while his wife was in hospital!0 -
I really don't understand peoples obsession with using VERY expensive toilet paper e.g. Andrex,Charmin etc, I nearly wet myself laughing when I saw the advert for the Andrex (I think) shea butter ones. What an absolute rip off and utter nonesense. Talk about flushing money down the loo. IMO, obviously. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

Do be aware that this will not be as absorbent as the toilet paper:DWe all evolve - get on with it0 -
As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the Sneaky Ways thread

I have been spending...the new Philips energy efficient kettle was delivered this evening. The family have oready said "what is wrong with the old one". Thats the thing is was old but not broken.
On the box it says...
Filling the kettle completely to make one or two cups of tea wastes energy.
The Philips indicator has a unique 1 cup indicator so you can easily see exactly how much water you need.
By only boiling the cup of water you need you could save 66% energy.
Boiling the jug to wash a few dishes is more energy efficient than filling the sink with water from the tap.
Using cold water when you are filling the kettle uses less energy than taking hot water from the hot tap.
Boiling the kettle is more efficient than water on the stove. If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

Ive found it very hard to save on heating what with my DD having a bad cold and our flat a bit cold anyway, but I've tried not to put the heat up too much and used old fleeces for us to wear indoors, hands get very cold though, a hot water bottle helps too.0

I use our microwave to make custard in:D and I believe it's very good for making lemon curd in aswell. I also use it to soften butter, chocolate etc

Can you return your new kettle?
if you can, do what I did, mark with nail varnish/marker, a line for 1, 2 and 3 mugs of tea.
I just measured where each one was after filling.
If I have more than that for a cuppa, I just add what ever extra mugs of water to to it.
Only ever boil what is needed then and you can keep your old kettle and get your money back:D
I also have a different coloured dots, one for how much water for DD's cup a soups and another for stock cubes when she makes soups.
I could add more but would look like a join the dots picture:o0 -
Is it better to use a fan heater or have the house heating on? I only use 3 rooms in my house all the time so i have switched off the other radiators to save money on the heating bill. Now my OH has a fan heater that he uses, does this work out cheaper?MFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0
