Sneaky ways to save the pennies

I've not tried it myself, but when a friend does eggs in the mw she pierces the yolk with a very fine needle. It doesn't leak but the pressure doesn't build up and the eggs always seem to cook properly. Two minutes sounds rather a long time though, perhaps try 25/30 seconds at a time until you find out how long it takes to cook them how you like them?0

If you've a favourite vase with a crack in it, put a freezer bag inside and you can fill it with water and still use it for flowers." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Hiya, the microwave eggs got a 2 out of 10. I did stab the yokes with a knife. I think I cooked them to long.
I am going to cook microwave sponge pudding next! I did this a long wile ago when I first bought the thing. If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0 -

Lakeland and others hardware shops sell a brilliant twin-egg microwave plastic container which is well worth buying if you eat a lot of eggs and want a quick way of poaching them. You simply crack the egg/s into the individual spaces, pierce the egg yolk with a sharp knife, and add one teaspoon of water over each egg. Clip on the cover and microwave for 1 minute on LOW for 1 egg, or 1 minute 50 seconds on LOW for 2 eggs. We often get a little "pouff" sound when the egg is actually cooked.
If you want to cook eggs quickly for an egg sandwich, simply break up the yolk when you've broken it into the container and mix lightly with the white before microwaving.0 -
We also get through a lot of toilet paper, my mum used to make us only use 2 squares at a time (not easy, so one must be impossible) but our son now uses at least 10 with each wipe, and wipes at least 10 times  I'm not sure how to police him, I might try a laminated sign :rotfl:2025 - Declutter to Move House

I have two children who insist on using tons of toilet paper, so in the downstairs bathroom and the family bathroom I have tesco value toilet paper, its cheap and does the job apparently, I wouldn't know because in my bathroom I have Andrex, I simply couldn't afford branded toilet paper in all bathroom the way the children use it.0

I have to agree with everyone about hubby's and dd needing a constant reminder about not using nearly a whole roll everytime they use the loo! What is it with them? I have tried squashing as per a "sneaky way with pennies" idea but they moaned about funny shaped loo rolls and not to buy that make again! I have Andrex in a hidden place just for me and it lasts for ages - they have the best offer stuff -and why is it the mum's who always have to deblock the loo when the inevitable happens ???????May you fill up the great clutterbucket of life and may all of your leaks be in cheese sauce
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without:cool:0 -
This is so funny! I remember my mum going mad at me for using loads of loo roll when I was a teenager - didn't think any more of it as an adult til I had my own DD and blimey! Could she get through the stuff! When she went away to Uni we really noticed how long our loo rolls were lasting!0
