I agree the first post, is one of my faves too..i thought hey up, what's this all about? Took me a couple of reads and looking at the links first posted but ..it all started to make sense. Then the exploits ...hmm maybe i could add the foraging for knot weed as well....
Oh but i think my all time fav is the three foot poo....really got me posting on here did that one!
Ps ISOM, don't let him taste blood...... hyuck, chuckle...... teheheh !!Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Ooooh Weezl, see what you've started! Now I've started posting I can't stop!
Glad you liked my little pome.......I posted it and ran away because I was feeling a bit shy:o- glad it made you laugh.
I know which was my favourite bit but I guess I'll save it 'til later when the party starts. I'm getting all excited for you. ISOM is doing you proud.....isn't she lovely!:A :A
and here's a frugal recipe for you.......my local Mr T have dried peas for 10p a packet at the mo'. So. Bobbykins pea and ham soup:-
1 onion from an economy pack - 6p
1 pack dried peas - 10p
1 tbspn olive oil - 1p?
sprinkle of salt - 0.00005p
2 pints HM veg stock (made from peelings and leftover bits) - 1p?
Handful of Diced cooked ham (remains of reduced last minute gammon joint) - 10p
Soak peas overnight then drain and rinse.
Sweat the onion in the olive oil the add the peas. Cover and let steam gently in the pan for about 10 mins.
Add the stock and salt. Simmer for 20 - 25 minutes until peas have virtually dissolved.
Whizz in the liquidiser.
Return to pan and add in the ham. Warm through.
Serve! With bread if you like but I found it thick enough to eat without any.
I got 5 portions out of this. 2 for lunch today and 3 portions for the freezer for lunches another time. Five portions for 28p - can't be bad?0 -
yay! Bobbykins, now you get to appear in the recipe index too!
Thanks for starting things off with your fave bits so far, I'm liking hearing what people enjoyed. I haven't had such a lovely day as this for ages, it's like a birthday...:T

Another lurker here to say a big thank you to Weezl74 for this thread, and to Mr Weez, ISOM, Ceridwen and all the others who have regularly posted. I have really enjoyed all the recipes and stories. It has taken me back in time to the type of cooking my mum used to do.
I really hope you all have a fun evening and look forward to the next thread. I must just say that I can't go past a patch of nettles without the urge to pick them!
Have a blast

On that front weezl....I would think the "copyright" thingie that MSE Martin puts is to avoid conflict - from people putting stuff in a book that originally came out of other peoples heads and they might want to assert "ownership" of a recipe themselves. (Well...I could follow the logic on that one). But - I still think that anything that came from your own head (or you had got permission from the contributor concerned) would be okay for you to put in a book. .....
I agree with Ceridwen. (I followed a link from her blog to get here and have just blown my cover)
From the BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk/terms/#3:7. Copyright in your contribution will remain with you and this permission is not exclusive, so you can continue to use the material in any way including allowing others to use it.
Wikipedia has an interesting page on copyright. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_law_of_the_United_Kingdom
It might be worth dropping Martin a line if you want to use your comments in a book/blog ?0 -
