Unfortunately our local council seems to fail to ever get past this phase, we have had bins for garden waste, which were later removed and then recently replaced again. Have had kurb side boxes for glass/paper and cans, without a lid, then a lid was provided.

What irritates me about those boxes, is that they have the drainage holes at the highest point in the bottom, so there are always pools of stagnant water in them.

    Very hygienic...

I just dont have the confidence that this refuse is actually being recycled and am suspicious that the council is just appearing to do the scheme in order to appear to meet government targets.

The council is just doing the scheme to meet targets, but the refuse will be recycled - even if the council has to pay for that to happen.

Yes, cheap raw materials for industry is subsidised by tax payers. I hope you're happy about that, because you have no choice in the matter.

I suppose I will have to like it and lump it on this one, will try to do my bit by cutting down on the packaging I use where possible but suppliers dont make it easy for you. How much packaging is there with the average easter egg for example! My boys got about 5 each and they covered the whole dining room table. Crazy!

Anyway, what you up to tonight Z?

Just chillin Z, had a bit of a stressful day in Durham clothes shopping with 2 teenagers. Weather was rubbish otherwise I love Durham. I used to work in the city and appreciated the drive in with the Cathederal and Castle in view everyday. I feel really lucky to have such a lovely city close by.

Sunderland seems to be improving too but I have yet to visit the museum there or the park, must definately make a point of going there in the summer.

Might start to watch season 6 of 24 later. What you been up to today?

I always find getting into Durham stressful, especially at rush hour. Though the new carpark is a vast vast improvement on the old steep, narrow, and dark one.

Yes Mobray Park, its supposed to be lovely but I am ashamed to have not visited yet. We have so much on our doorstep that I have not explored yet!

Had a visit to the Baltic gallery and the Sage building not that long ago, had a bit of a sit on the eye bridge for a while but to be honest I prefer Durham, I just love the Cathederal and the river.

Oh yes, that was a nightmare, I remember as a teenager going in there with my Mam who hadn't long passed her driving test and she got the car stuck on one of the ramps and a kind gentleman had to rescue us.

It was very tight though in her defence, always have a bit of a laugh at the paint scrapes up the wall on the ramps in the Milburngate car park.
