First shop of the month and a total of £20.24 spent. This included several things I wouldn't normally buy, all reduced and most now in freezer:

    12 sausage rolls - 59p
    3 x 4 soft rolls - 20p per pack
    2 X 6 hot dog rolls - 26p per pack
    2 x large sponge flans - 36p each
6 packs curry noodles - 8p per pack
1 x pot of Coriander (to add to the herb garden) - 50p
Oven chips - half price 74p
Frozen roast potaoes - half price 90p
x-Large jar of store's own coffee - 80p (will let you know if it's drinkable)
    2 x Blackcurrant & Apple cordial - 20p per bottle
    2 x washing-up liquid - 14p per bottle

I also bought an extra large chicken for £5. It's in the oven now, as it'll take 3 hours to cook, and I can get at least 12 individual meals out of that plus the leftovers for soup.

I didn't feel so bad about spending 39p on a loaf of bread and £1.99 on a large carton of milk when I had made so many savings. I have so much in at the moment that the main shopping trip to Mr T has been delayed.

Using up chicken drumsticks tonight and have a trifle setting to use up the last tub of BOGOF Elmlea and some sponges I found in the freezer from a previous bake-athon.

Signature updated and I'm feeling quite proud of how my mini-herb garden is progressing. The pepper seeds have, at last, popped their heads out from their pot and the tomato seedlings now have leaves, so you can tell what they are. Still no signs of the garlic chive seeds sprouting, though. Total spent on entire mini-garden so far: £1.35 paid from my grocery budget.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

How do you add oats to mince? I've heard a lot of people mentioning it. Do you cook and drain the mince and then add the oats or what?

I had to go to the tip today so went to mr T to stop DH going. I got milk, 4 tubs of flora omega 3 (60p with 30p off voucher thanks whoever posted that one) and some evil weed and filters.
They would only accept 1 money off coupon so I used a 50p one. I should have split the shopping into 5 lots so I could use 5 coupons but she looked like she had too much time on her hands. So £15.12 spent. Hope not to need tobacco (I know want not need!) for the rest of the month.
Now have a bizarre flat total!

After I had DD I had the injection and DH asked me not to have it again as I was really tired and grumpy since having it. Pointed out that it may be due to the fact that I had a new baby who didn't sleep ever rather than an injection!

  • Made a pile of (Veggie) Glamorgan sausages this morning and then made a quick trip to Mr T-spent £1.39 on veg (I agree 1 money off voucher per purchase seems to work).
    Will update sig.

MRSMCAWBER put me down for £30 for April (month goes from 1st to the 30th), this includes all my food and the rats food aswell as any toiletries, cleaning gear and other items of the like.
I have one food delievery this month as I am having to stop it as I will be unable to afford it after this one :(. I will be going to the local grocers instead. I don't like that most of the items I'll buy after the last delievery will not be organic however the fact that it's local is at least better than nothing. That and before when I was at the grocers I could get even better prices for being a regular customer :D and should get that again, hehe. I'm hoping to come in at the £30 due to the change to local after my delivery on Thursday. I will still be buying organic where I can if I can afford it in my budget that really I am going to have to do my best to stick to.

    Good luck to everyone else.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D
  • Hi, I'm new around here. Can I please join in this month?

Budget is £200 to feed 2 adults, 2 teens and 2 labradors.

Not doing too badly so far- spent £49.00 on-line shop on Saturday, and not had to top up on anything at all so far! That's progress for me! Done a meal plan for this week, and stuck to it. Again, real progress!

Does anyone have a foolproof recipe for bread? Don't own a breadmaker, but really want to try, as it works out so much cheaper. Have tried in the past, but it always turns out a bit heavy (to say the least!)
