No Internet since last Tuesday:eek:
Cant believe 23 pages already and its only the 1st today! Not going to be able to catch up whole thread so just to say good luck to everyone.

This site is so addictive, with no Internet I've felt like a child who has had their fav toy taken from them.:o0 -

Hello I am a newbie but having been reading this thread for a while.
Could you please put me down for £120 for the month. That's for me and DH, and covers breakfast, lunch and dinners. It will also have to include all toiletries and cleaning products.
Good luck everyone!0 -
Hi all
Well my MrT delivery just arrived costing £47.73 with discount etc. This is theoretically enough heavy stuff to do well through to May as well as being F&V for the week. I may need to do a small top up though since some of the alterations I made last night don't seem to have shown.
I also had a wine delivery and I won't tell you what it cost except that it was more than my grocery budget for the month - but I hope this should do through a good bit of the summer. Some good deals at the minute - Tesco are doing a lot of half price wines with free delivery over £100 and there are 1000 point vouchers around too if you look for them. Excuses excuses :beer:
Hope you guys are all doing well and staying focused since we are only on day one!!
**edit** Mrs M I posted my March total on the March thread (a shameful £152 when the goal was £130) will do better in April.

Hi savingfortravel. I have to admit I'm a typical 'bloke' in that I have this strange obsession with having meat in every meal, you know - "a meal isn't really a meal without meat" kind of thing. Your recipe might help wean me off the meatilicious meat obsession though, cos those veggie sausages sound fantastic!
Actually, looking at the ingredients it's no surprise they appeal lol, onion, cheese, bread, egg, mmmmmI admit that I do love cheese and onion pasties, veggie or not! (but only as a snack, "not a meal" you see
)
ps - When you say 'can cook from frozen', do you mean freeze without frying then fry from frozen, or fry cool freeze then reheat from frozen? I'm assuming the former but I do like to get these stupid questions out of the way before it's too late0 -
Mr DT
All I know is that meat eaters and non-meat eaters love them and they are cheap to make...
I'm sure a clever meat eater could add bacon bits to them and make them even more delicious.....

Just saw your question: yes you're right, first way..
I make sausages in bulk (steps 1 and 2) then freeze,
When they come up on meal planner I can then grab them from freezer and cook (step 3)
Hope that helps... Frugal Living 2010 member MFW by 2014 Was 88,000 now £46,877.90 Grocery Budget for Dec-April=£173.72/£244 (Groc Budget 2010 from Ebay/Voucher savings/Quidco -If we can do it will save our £980 GC budget) Now living the dream -in our tiny country cottage-all thanks to MS forums. x 39 2 go

i try not to buy the broccoli stalks in the first place, its amazing how the stalks accidently fall off the broccoli before it gets placed in my basket :rotfl: i refuse to pay for things im not gonna use so i slyly break off the inedible parts which all add to the weight/price. mr t`s must hate people like me
Best bit is the stalks..... use the tattie peeler to take a thin layer off the stalks then steam like the rest and oh howgood they are. I also eat them raw... talk about waste not want not...0 -
Tonight was our monthly shop night (which also includes the milk, fruit and veggies of our weekly shop). I operate a storecupboard system and restock items on my monthly shop (have a list on my notice board that I add things to as I use them up).
Tonight we hit Sainsbury's (£15.77) and Asda (16.44) so my total spend so far is £51.75 this month. My monthly shop normally comes in the £60-£80 bracket so a big saving.
But, and this is a big but, £5.15 of tonight's spend included reductions from both stores which (if I had paid full price) would have cost £34.93 . So I have lots of veggies (much already blanched and in the freezer), cumberland sausages and fish at very little cost. I now have to work out how to cook fresh sardines, ray wings and monkfish tail. Well, at least this challenge will be expanding my horizons!

I have a tub in the freezer which I pop any stalks into (like tonight when I was blanching for the freezer the reduced brocolli I bought), when I have enough saved we have a 'free broccoli soup' making sessionEnjoying an MSE OS life0 -
