    Morning all
We had our pasta and sauce last night from the fridge and its chicken enchiladas tonight which I picked up the sauce (anyone got a recipe for this as we've always used a jar (74p)). for in Asda last night when I got our milk and other little bits - only spent £6.34, but got some whoopies carrots and swede for under 85p, will steam and blitz them tonight for the freezer for DS.

We haven't actually done our big shop for the month yet so might see how much longer we can go, imagine we can last until the weekend on what we have in the cupboard and freezer.

Are running at just over £35 so far, but that includes all baby wipes and bath stuff for at least this month.

  • Tesco's do a cous cous seasoning, if you go onto Tesco.com you can take a look. It is spelt wrong so finding it is not easy, they have spelt it - Tesco Meditrncous Cous Seasoning 110g and costs £1.25. I haven't tried it myself as I still have lots of Ainsley Harriot's Spice Sensation cous cous that I take to work for lunch (it was on offer at Iceland £1 per box and 3 sachets per box, I eat 1/2 sachet for lunch - about 17p per day for lunch :money: )

I may be trying it when my current stash runs out.

    FFM :)

Brilliant :T Thanks for this, just what I was looking for :D.
I used to have Ainsley's too especially the tomato one but the GC in me screamed that I could make lots more meals out of the packet in its "raw" state if I add flavourings to it. I'll hunt this out next time in Tesco and report back :D

Hopefully a NSD for me ! Have the left over Coconut Chicken noodle soup for tea and plenty in the fridge.

Lovely weather here so taking the kids to a local park which has huge long walks and only costs £1 to park your car.
So little money - so much time
  • Moring all,
So far total spend for April; £0.00!!!! Yes I know its only 2nd but....
Used left over bolognese last night, added kidney beans, chilli & more oats & tinned toms, lovely mmmm. No one has noticed the grated carrots & oats
:j Am going to hit all the supermarkets this pm, as daughters are at swim training & I have to wait for them for 2hrs! It's too far to go home, 28mile round trip!! This happens 6 times a week, so no excuse for not being able to spot bargains, BOGOF's etc.
Sausage casserole this eve, in the SC, as DD1 has to go to work as soon as she gets in from swimming.
Have made a choc cake, cheese scones, & have a batch of bread on the go this am. Must be time for a rest!!!!!!
Will update tomorrow with spend from today.

    Morning Everyone,

Well yesterday I had to do my first shop of April, and it was a big shop. I have spent the grand total of £137.86:eek:   . I have bought quite a bit of butcher meat in which Im hoping will last me for the whole of April. The butcher meat I got was:-

    A Gammon Joint
    8lbs steak mince
    6 chicken breasts
    3 large chicken legs
    2lbs diced shoulder steak
    2lbs beef sausages
    1lb sliced onion lorne
    1lb pork sausagemeat
    2 free range chickens
topside joint (cant rememeber the size but, it will do at last 3-4 dinners).

Have used 2 of the chicken breasts already for lasy nights dinner (HM sweet & Sour chicken).
Tonight, we are having Egg & Bacon Tart with loads of veg, and I will make Shepherds Pie for tomorrows dinner with 1lb of the steak mince. Do you think shepherds pie will taste okay if I bulk it out with lentals or porridge oats?

I have written out a meal plan for half of April, so, will use that up, then see what is left in the freezer, and plan the rest of Aprils meals.

DH has said he will eat more veggie meals, so, I plan on making Veg curry, and veg chillie.

There was some rice left over from last nights dinner, and I asked DH to put it into the fridge, and he has left it out all night:mad: . Does anyone think it will be okay to use? I was thinking of maybe making a savory rice with it to go with tonights tea, but, I dont know if it will be safe:confused: .

I tried shepherds pie with red lentils for the first time a couple of nights ago. It was really tasty :D, gave it a slightly creamy texture. I simmered everything on the hob for half an hour or so to ensure the lentils would be cooked. I also bulked it out with carrots, peas, sweatcorn and mushrooms Yum :D

I haven't tried oats yet, I don't know why I just can't bring myself to do it

    morning all :hello:

have just got back from mr M's.....only spent £3.80. bought one of his big 12.5kg of potatoes for 3.80, and a little pot of yeo valley yogurt and a carton of UHT milk. ( i had a £1 coupon so that paid for the yogurt & milk!!) i'm gonna have another go with my easi-yo tonight and make a batch of yogurt

Any ideas on how i should store the spuds? they're in a thick paper sack, so i was just gonna leave them in that, and put it in the under stairs cupboard, do you think that would be okay? i've never bought a massive sack before, and i want it to last at least a month, or am i just being a bit optimistic??

well, i'm off to put my dough in the oven now.i left it to rise whilst i was out, and i'm making iced buns :p they're so more-ish!!!
