Hi Moniker - haven't used mine for ages but seem to remember that you need some Natural Yoghurt to get it going, you take a tablespoon of that and add to milk to make the Yoghurt and then once you've got the HM stuff you keep a tbsp for next time you want to make some more - hope that makes sense - just going to dig mine out of the cupboard, dust it down and get it going again so thanks for reminding me I had one.:T

  • Quick question: What type of oats do you use to bulk out mince?? Am going to try with Chilli Con Carni. Also where is the best place to buy these oats?
    Thanks

  • hi jackie_w - dont use the rice.....fine if it had been in the fridge overnight but can cause mega food poisoning if not refrigerated...i know i've had it. had a month off work last year...campylobacter... horrendous little germ. never again.

I wish I hadn't read this,I had left over rice for lunch.
I cooked it last night poured cold water over it to quickly cool it straight after cooking(when I realized I'd made too much)and stuck it in a tub straight into the fridge.

But after reading this I am really nervous, and my stomach feels a little dodgy(purely psychological I know).

You should be fine as it was stuck inthe fridge straight away. Rice is only really a problem when it has been kept warm for ages (eg on a hot buffet) or left out.

I,m in trouble now!! I,ve spent all but £12.10 of my budget. It,s only me and I only need bread and milk but it,s not looking good. I,ll have to be extra careful now, I will use coupons and underhand tactics to get there, not shoplifting or anything though lol.

Made a pile of (Veggie) Glamorgan sausages this morning and then made a quick trip to Mr T-spent £1.39 on veg (I agree 1 money off voucher per purchase seems to work).
    Will update sig.

Good luck to all newbies and everyone else.. You're all doing great!!!
ONE MOC PER PURCHASE!! I would expire on the spot:rotfl: . Have a look on the discount codes and vouchers thread, some people on there dont seem to pay for anything. I havent the brass kneck for this but certainly use more than one. Tesco should take quite a few, perhaps because your purchase was so small the s/a baulked, just dont go this operator again.;)

As I was passing Sainsburys anyway I popped in and bought 8 bottles of Cravendale milk on 2 for £2 as I dont know when the offer ends - all safely nestled in my freezer now. Sme other bits also managed to fall in to the trolley as well - but all things i needed like mariglod stock powder - wonderful stuff. Spent £18.61. Must be a record for me!!

Wooo Hooo, just discovered that I had included £10 worth of cash back in my grocery spends, so I have just amended my sig to reflect this. Amazing how just £10 seems to have changed the 'odds' of me possibly achieving this budget !!!!
