  • we've done our big shop for the month, but I've still got meat and veg to buy. I have updated my sig. Made some choc chip muffins today and I'm going to make some individual quiches later to finish up the pastry that's in the fridge.
I taken someone's tip on board who said they have a word document open when they are on line so that they can copy and paste recipes. Thanks for the idea. I've got a nice recipe book that I bought about 1year ago that I still havent written any recipes in to yet, so that will be my next challenge  Keep up the good work everyone:T

I have been to asda this morning and got loads of grub! My cupboards are full:D . I am really pleased that my bill came in on budget again as I had to get 2 new lunch bags as well as all the food, household and personal stuff. My list and pen method is working!

I find it helps to stop impulse buys,I am waiting on a Asda delivery as I type.
I can't remember the last time I did a proper shop in a supermarket.

Hi there Moniker, I use longlife whole milk, not fresh milk or untreated as this has to be boiled then cooled because of bacteria(too much faving around for me). Then just add 2 tablespoons of yoghurt and mix well. Hope this helps.

  • Another £9 to add to my sig in a mo for top ups and choc for those lava cakes. Not essential in the slightest but soooo yummy. Thanks to mhe for the recipe although I dont think my waistline will agree lol!

Trying to think ahead for our 5 days in a caravan, Will take a cooler full of stuff and a box of food from the cupboard including bakes such as muffins, rolls, hot cross buns and biscuits. Hopefully this will reduce costs.

The asda I use caters for the local asian population and the prices seem even cheaper than online.;) I usually price up my shopping list on supermarket.com but a lot of the products arent available online...and I like to pick my own veg. I am getting really good and tick things of my list as I go so I dont even go down half the rows! :j Plus its not too far away so delivery is dearer than the cost of petrol.
I used to shop online with sainsburys but always found I spent more than I wanted to..but this was when I was working and didnt have as much time:D .
JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200:D FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200

    Hi all
i`ve just updated my sig with last weekends spends, £15 was a sack of dogfood so it`s not as bad as it looks really :o
This weekend will be a biggie too as i had to spend over £50 to get the free delivery on Asda`s website but after that the next two weeks should be ok - fingers crossed.
I had actually managed to save £15 for the dogfood out of last months challenge by putting all the change in a jar but i`ve taken it off this weeks spend too so that i can get in front with it so in theory there should be enough left for another sack when we need one. I suppose i`m borrowing it in a way but it works so far and if we run short it`s a bit of a safety net as i can pinch it back :D
I`ve also mealplanned for the next couple of weeks and if we an stick to it that`ll be another saving, i`ll post it when i get chance then you can all line up to beat me with a stick when i veer off the narrow path :rotfl:
    Good luck all.
    SD

PS i can`t remember who posted the recipe for lemonade scones but they were lovely - thankyou x
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
  • Hello, I have a few questions re cooking then freezing please.

I make a Leek and Potato Soup and was wondering how I would go about freezing this? and then defrosting and using when needed? Thank you.

Also are there a few family meals anyone knows are good and easy to make and freeze?? I have a nearly 2 year old little boy who eats everything I do, and will try anything! I would like to try some new things for us both and other half but he is home later from work, so myself and my son have our tea together.

This is my first time doing a grocery challenge and I would really like to give it my best shot, but I am sorry for all the questions which you have probably all answered loads of times before! Your help is much appreciated.

    Hi there :)

My DD is 2 1/2 and eats pretty much everything I give her. I cook huge batches of spag bol, veg risotto, shepherds pie and chilli (very mild), portion up and freeze them. I bulk all of them up with loads of veg (grated carrot, courgette, mushrooms, sweetcorn, peppers) so there is probably more veg than meat. I only need to zap them in the microwave and cook some pasta or rice. DD loves them all :D
