Went shopping earlier even though I said I didn't want to yet.
Unfortunately DH came home from work early and ended up coming with me. Cue a 2 hour shop involving Lidl and Asda with DH and DD arguing the whole way round.
Spent £10 something in Lidl- got stiffed for chocolate and binoculars and £50 something in Asda but DH bought a film so that's out of his money.
Not overly upset about Asda as I got 3 boxes of whoopsied cereal for 50p each and lots of dried stuff which was dented or damaged packaging. Also a massive bag of walkers for £1.
We must have looked like a right lot though cause when we got to the checkout the only fresh stuff we had was a bag of spuds, a pack of tomatoes and a bag of peppers. OOPS!

Can you put me down for £200 for May please, thats for 2 adults. Prob extravagant to some of you OSers but it's our first month! That £50 less than we normally spend.Hopefully do it and bring it down again!

I have discovered (in the 2.5 weeks since I've found this place!) that it's a gradual process! Even in a couple of weeks I've managed to find ways to get things to go further and different ways to save a couple of £ here and there. We were on £200 in April and am going to try for £170 in May and there's only 2 of us! I'm currently amazed that people can cope on less that £100 a month but I'm sure in a little while we'll both be (nearly) at that level too!!! :)

    Evening all

If it makes you feel any better Kaz... i was the same coming through the NAFFI checkout earlier :D and they don't have whoopsies that scan..they have to tap in all the prices :p

    Anyway.... i got :-
    1. 6 blocks of lancashire cheese -1 of hubbies faves and i love it for cooking -wedged in the freezer
    2. 7 X 1 litre whole fresh milk -wedged in the freezer
    3. an organic lamb joint -roasted and will be turned into a couple of lamb n veggie pies tomorrow
    4. 500g pack of wafer thin smoked turkey -going to split and freeze some
    5. 500g pack of wafer thin chicken -ditto-
    6. 3 tubs langley farm single cream-in the freezer
    7. 1 tub cottage cheese
    8. huge cauli..... to be turned into cauli cheese and cauli cheese soup
and it came to €8 :T The cheese will last ages although hubby is on to summer lunches now -so it will come in handy there;)

Took a piece of the steak out i froze the other day and we have just had steak, mushrooms, onions, peppers and peas in hoisin sauce -in tortillla wraps -with salad.... nomnomnom...

I think i might have to increase my May budget as i have remembered that i saw Nescafe on offer the other day for €4.99 so may have to stockpile whilst its about €2 cheaper a jar :p ...sure i will have figured it out in time for the may challenge starting

hope everyone is looking forward to the new month starting :D

Right....I have posted my letter (not cheque!) back to CC company so we shall see!

Went to butchers today and spent £39.09 but have got everything we need for this months menu plan plus more. We had WW recipe of spaghetti carbonara tonight (plus a garlic baguette - it wouldn't fit back in the freezer with all the meat so I had to cook it!!) Yum!

Payday for OH today and he got a payrise! And it was backdated to March so 2 months extra :D Hooray!
