.....today at £99.87 :j bought potatoes and swede this morning, have bread in freezer, so shouldn't need anything between now and Wednesday.
Roll on May challenge0 -
So much for not buying anything yesterday:mad: Went into MrT for a quiet mooch on my own, really to do a reccie in readiness for the new budget:o
I had planned to buy one daily paper, 2pt milk & pack of butter.
What I bought was 3 daily papers, 2pt milk, rocket [on spesh & for the Iggie], 3 braeburn apples [I'd forgotten I'd eaten the last one earlier:p ], Kerrygold butter cuz it's on offer for summat like £1:78 for 2 packs & a lurverlee chicken rtc by almost three squiddlies.
So the chicken went in the oven last night while the HM las was cooking & all I have to do now is decide what to do with it:D
I've gone over now for sure but only just; but like others I'm very pleased with what I've spent it on this month. Let's hope we can say the same next time:rolleyes:
Put me down for £350 again please MrsMc, to help me gather in the goodies whilst I can still afford to:o Thankfully there's no birthdays in May, so I can hopefully get some bits ready for No1 offspring in June & make a rich fruit cake for No2 b'day in September.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

morning all
went into town this morning and spent £19.30. mind you, that DID include 6 bottles of herbal essences shampoo & conditioner that were half price.....i think i've got enough bottles now to last me about 2years
also had to top up my chocadoobies but as thats my only vice, i'm not gonna feel guilty about itthe rest was just on fruit&veg to last the weekend, and some eggs
my challenge finishes on Sunday, so i'll declare my total then, and start afresh on Mon
right am off to walk my dogs along the beach now, as its a lovely day. catch up with you all later x0 -
Okay...I'm back....sorry to disappoint you all who thought I'd disappeared till at least tomorrow:p
First, I'm declaring spends for April at £361:28 so not that much over & technically I could take some of that out of the gift pot.
Did anyone else see the Mail &/or Express yesterday?
Mail:-"Cheap food is being dressed up as top-quality produce in a vast fraud costing shoppers £7billion a year, it is claimed today."It goes on to say that battery chickens & eggs are being passed off as organic/free range, farmed fish as wild & even olive oil dyed with chlorophyill to pass for extra virgin:eek:
Express:-
In conjunction with Moneysupermarket.com, have begun a sort of price-watch. They list prices of 24 food items with prices for Apr 07 & Apr 08, along with a host of other essentials. Their food basket was £24:12 last year & is £27:80 [15.2%] now with the biggest rises in:-
Doz FR eggs 1.75 > 2.58 47.4%
English butter 58 > 94 62.1%
1kg garden peas 1.09 > 1.64:eek: 49.9%
& of course we already know about fusilli up 81.1% & basmati rice 61.1%
I know you can't believe everything you read in the papers, but these articles certainly make you wonder....

But inflation is only 2.5% Well it is on Planet Politician anyway :rotfl:0 -

Mrs M, has a new thread been started for May yet?
Put me down for £130 again please.
Thanks for all your help/work/support on these threads0 -
Reporting back after my first challenge .... €406.38 / €420 including misc house cleaning etc. I'm pleased we stayed in budget on our first month. However, I feel like I've cheated as we went to DisneyLand Paris for 5days and spent more on food there than the rest of our month's budget. It was all planned and I didn't include those days away for my april budget.
This month I'd like to set the budget at €400 for May (PLEASE MRS Mc) inc cleaning stuff starting today 25th. I've been shopping and the freezer is full again and have started doing a food planner for the next few days. Not going away this month so no excuses and have trimmed the budget down a bit.LMB 01/03/08£9001.61 £10/6 6089.70 - 32%paid off!
Grocery Challenge 25/6 to 24/7 €350 week1 €30-46 / €87-50

We are nearing the £300 mark (I knew, we are going to be well over after the first week.) But a lot of stuff will last us into may.
I've made MrsM Ham and tomatoe scone. They are delicious. Some are in the tin, and some are in the freezer. I am trying to do damage limitation now. We have to use up some leftovers, so that should sort todays and tomorrows meals.
I am looking forward to May, new budget and 2 budgets, as we are going to germany, and guess what.... Of course I will stock up!
EgonI wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
Hi weezl - just wanted to say thanks for the Liver Pate Recipe, made it yesterday and OMG it was really yummy and so much healthier/cheaper than shop bought and so easy to make so thanks for that:T
Also got my Yoghurt maker out of the cupboard, dusted it down and made some yummy yoghurt, picked some Rhubarb from the garden, cooked and cooled it and stirred that in and had some for breakfast this morning and it was delicious. Also very healthy and not full of any additives/preservatives so feeling chuffed with myself.;)
Got some HM rolls rising on a tray at the moment before going in the oven - don't know what's come over me this week - must be true that life begins at 40:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: No seriously, I think it's just that sun has finally decided to shine and feel full of energy, yesterday was really freaky weather, had a thunder storm in the afternoon, hailstones and then heavy rain - think this cold weather is affecting what's going on in my Greenhouse, my Tomato seeds have yet to show themselves and planted them a couple of weeks ago. Everything else coming up ok so maybe not warm enough yet for the Tomatoes so not panicking yet.
Anyway, good luck everyone as it nears the end of the month - shall post my final total on Sunday as my month runs from 27th."WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.
