Hi everyone!
I hope you all have done really well this month and an extra thought to those who have not done as well as they thought they would. I defintetely fit in to that last group this month. Just before Easter I got a letter in the post saying that the house we have been renting had been re-possessed by the bank (due to non mortgage payment by the landlord) and now we only had 2 weeks to find somewhere to live and move. After a very stressful period and completely losing track on my spending (particularly take away coffees), I now feel ready join the next challenge in May. I have budgeted for £120.
Good luck to everyone in May and have a nice weekend.
Lots of love

Hi All
Have been watching this grocery challenge for a month and decided to give it a go. (MSE.com :money: has saved me £100's since I discovered it), besides I can't let my sister beat me!!:p if she can do it so can I. I know I probably spend more than I realise so this will be an interesting first month. I already have a freezer full - thanks to whoopsies I managed to stock up on chicken- and I have restarted making HM Bread -bit hit and miss up till now but determined to save some money for a holiday next year.
Please can I declare myself in for May's challenge when it starts please at £300 (well got to start somewhere! I may have misjudged as 5 weeks in month!) this is for 2 adults and 3 little darlings!!
Thanks for all the tips and recipes sofar I just have to find time to catch up on all the posts if I don't log on for a few days LOLThanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

OMG it's taken me nearly an hour to catch up on several days posts! Went back to work this week so this is the first chance I've had to log on.
Only spent a couple quid on milk this week and still plenty of food in the fridge and freezer. However DH has just announced that there is no bread or crisps in the house and he wanted to make a packed lunch for tomorrows karting! so he'll have to rush up the local shop first thing!
Well done to everyone who has stayed under budget. We are over slightly but won't declare until Wednesday
TheBeesMortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000
Sealed Pot Challenge 416 - target £5000 -
Actually looking at a calendar my month will run from mon 28th April to 1st June:eek: (that's frightening to think June is only just over 5 weeks away) if that's alright. Must get into meal planning mode as I'm sure that is my downfall. That and going to the shops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

Hi Chocolateteddy, is your sister on here? Are you going to name and shame?
Right earlier on I forgot to mention that the allinsons yeast has changed packaging in Asda to a mustard colour IIRC and they only had dried active yeast not suitable for a BM. I'll still use it though and activate it before I start the programme off.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
What a horrible month we've had, first DD was ill, then DS, then DH, then of course me! We've also had lots of little things go wrong, which while I'm quite good at not getting down it has all been very time consuming. As a result of all this I've totally lost track on reading this thread, and I only have reciepts to the total of £201 and that can't be right. So Mrs M I'm going to declare my total at £270 and set my next months target at £270. Here's hopeing for a happier and healthier one:D
Well done to everyone who is on track, and to those who aren't, well done for trying.Grippy is my middle name!0 -

Not sure if that's how you do quotes?!
Yes I meant she has just started as well. Like me she has been on the fringe for a while, she introduced me to the mse website. She is turbo5019 so a bit a friendly rivalary should keep us both on the straight and narrow;) Also we can look out for whoopsies for each other I found her a large (2.2kg) chicken for 30p (i'm sure it was meant to have been marked down to £3 but well......their loss/ my gain!)Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

Becky 2 - hope you get the house thing sorted soon. Must be a right worry - don't think I'd be able to concentrate on receipts etc with that weighing on my mind.
Well done to all those that have managed to stay in or under budget. :T :T
For the second month running I've tipped over the edge again.Spent another £18.23 at the supermarket last night but that is it now...everything bought and whatever isn't can't be because I've drained my 'reserves' money.
So my final figure to declare for April is £170.11 How annoying.
Oh well... new month new budget. Don't get paid till next week but my budget for May will be £140 again. This will only be for 4 weeks tho this month, so I'm giving myself a bit extra.
Wow chocolateteddy - I wish I could stumble over a 30p chicken. Well done.:TAUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250
