Last time I had bag of dried apricots I used some in a cereal bar recipe (it was one on here somewhere for 'healthier' cereal bars)

Hi all, so hard to keep up on here but I am trying :D Despite my outright lie of a signature ;) we have spent money but I haven't added it up yet! Don't think we're doing too badly - I was going to use a £4 off £40 MOC but we didn't really need that much so have just avoided going altogether :T

The bad news is that we think the kitten has broken his leg  - just off to the vet to find out - so the anniversary meal we had planned for tonight has had to be shelved. Oh well, as long as the kitten's okay - anyone know how much a broken leg might cost (no, we don't have insurance yet!)? Could be rice and dahl here for many a moon...

Right, I need your help - I used the search but could not find anything

I have over a kilo of dried apricots to use. What do I use them for??? My main problem is that I don't think OH like apricots. I was going to make a peach and apricot cobbler for myself, and use some of them rehydrated in pork burgers. Can you use them in HM yoghurt?
    Apricot and almond muffins? Yum!

  • Hi all,
Have had a good shopping trip to Mr T, total spend £20.26, less MOC, £10.06!!! So far this week have only spent total of £24.26, which is pretty darn good I think.:j
    DD2 has been helping with all the HM recipes this week, so far have made;
hobnob cookies, bread, tortillas, coleslaw, fairy cakes, carrot & corridaner soup, sheperds pie, veg risotto, yum!!!! I have forgotton how good it is to make all your own food from scratch. it all certainly tastes better, & is much cheaper.
Tomorrow, HM lemon ice cream, & more bread!!!
    Will make it a NSD.
Off to serve up DD's dinner now, DH not in until later,so I'll eat with him.:)
2011, this will be my year .

£8 on sack of 25kg pots:eek:, £6.75 on meat and £7.60 down the market on bread and fruit.
A bit shocked at price of spuds, but suppose wanted to support local grocers and didn`t want to trawl around just to check out prices for spuds, but will now keep my eyes peeled for farmshops and laybys for prices.

Just wondering how much other people pay for a 25kg of pots and where they get them from?.

First sack of pots £6 from local village market, 2nd sack from same stall 3 weeks later £8 but better quality. 3rd sack from nearby town market £5.95, good potatoes but not washed. Spotted a wide selection of sacks of pots at a local farm shop, all not washed and £6.99 for all varieties.

Well, end of March I was busying myself drawing up a meal planner and shopping list to last all of April. I have to admit I've not stuck to it too faithfully so far :o

I haven't bought any food 'on the go' though, or spent much on additional bits yet so I suppose it's fine. Military meal planning isn't for me, better for me to stock up on some basics and just make whatever I fancy! It works out ok anyway, yesterday I made meatloaf which was more like a hash than a loaf, but having chilled in the fridge all day today I now have some fantastic hm sandwich filling, and it goes nicely with mash and peas for a fairly healthy meal (packed with oats and carrots for veggie and fibre goodness). I don't feel too bad ditching the meal plan so long as there's no wasted food :)

Anyone else having trouble sticking to their initial plan?

And bails, really sorry to hear about your cats leg :(
