  • I had a NSD - woo hoo!
MrDT I find it easier to play it by ear too. When I have a cooking day I make more, and freeze, so there is food for a non-cooking day. Today I made loads of shepherds' pie and chili, but then DS went to tea at a friend's (DD is away too) and I ended up freezing it all and having hummus on toast by myself!
Teedy You've made me want a gin!
  • HI everyone,

Just a quick visit to update my sig.
Went to MrT late last night and spent £51.96, only got one whoopsie, bread down to 20p, but will only need meat from butchers and a small bit of f&v for next week(fingers crossed).

i think I am going to fail
big shopping at start of month but have been frittering away because of the school holiday.
having a spending diary is scary...you can see where it all goes:o
    I waste so much money:eek:
Am I cheating by only including shopping and not all spending?
I dont include things like lunch out

maybe next month I will be honest with myself
I just wanted to make a start on getting it all under control.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Had a lovely pizza made last night by OH. He started the dough off with the BM and I prepped the toppings when I got in from work.

I am working at home today, which means its a NSD and I can start work early and finish early. Its a beautiful morning here and the estate agent is due to come over this pm to do a 360 degree panoramic of the main rooms for their web site.

I have got some lovely HM hummous and bread for lunch - first time I have made it, I didn't have any Tahini, so I blitzed sesame seeds with some sesame oil and added to the garlic, salt, tinned chick peas. It was great - really pleased as the chick peas had been hanging around for a while.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

Everyone in the house is a bit stressy today as DS (14) threw a tantrum about revision for his SATS! Anyone else going through this at the moment? Roll on May when it's all over!

    Have a good evening

Oh yes here too, very stressy 14 year old but he feels he does not have to revise because he is so intelligent anyway:rotfl: :rotfl:

angel I find the cheapest way to shop is to send my OH or teenage son shopping because they absolutely hate it and never come back with anything that is not on the list:rotfl: :rotfl: they go in, get it and come back...now if I go into a shop....:rotfl:

had the second nsd in a row yesterday. so came in under budget by 80p last week:T , it was actually a bit better than that as i'd put a couple of £2 coins in my tin,
if the hole in the wall is still broke next week will havwe to start tomorrow so another nsd today hopefully (but wont know till i walk by after taking DS to school later)

made leeky mash, quorn dippers and veg for tea last night followed by hm lemon drizzle cake - it was scrummy the recipie was posted by r.mac i'd recommend it. i wasnt sure as i only used one lemon and half the juice needed but it was lemony enough for us.

not sure about tonight tea yet, but MUST do a shopping list today.

£21 at Mr T yesterday. A lot of that was baking supplies so we are all set for some nice cakes etc. I was a bit worried about making it this month but think it will be ok. It is my and DD here at the moment as OH is working away. We have been eating stir fries from the veggie box and they have been delicious. OH is not so much a veggie person, so more meat will have to be bought next week. Still, fingers crossed that we'll manage to come under it this month.

    Hello - at least it's Friday!:T

Have written a little shopping list of things to get either today or tomorrow, mostly fruit and salad to stop me getting scurvy!
Shouldn't cost more than £15 or so and should get me through to the next weekend.
I'm in and out of the country next week and will be home some days and not others so it will help with the grocery spending.

I have a lot of extra spending coming up over the next few weeks and months - weddings, outfits to buy for weddings, holidays, dog haircuts and kennels..... the list is endless!

Will try harder to reign things in a bit but everything seems to cost so much more lately that its proving harder and harder - ho hum, chin up!

    Have a good day....
