LOL :rotfl: my sil was with me and kept looking round to see if people were looking...they werent! I really dont know why people are so bothered by them ,mine is really funky bright pink and covered with flowers!! They also do a flowery blue one at Ikea and I think she is going to get one too. We didnt want to match..then people might stare:rotfl:

I have definite trolley envy now. :p Mines a really ugly brown tartan reject of my mothers that must be about 25 yrs old. Even mum thought it was uncool to pull it. She walks along with me with an embarrassed giggle, looking nervously around when I take it out.
She loves piling all her stuff in tho. :D
Have you noticed how many people are using them? There are so many designs around and I snigger when I see us each eyeing up the others 'model.' I'm hankering for one of those ones with the seat attached although I'd have to lose a few more stone before I'd risk that. :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Morning all

Ohhhhh you don't know how hard i am fighting getting a walley trolley :D ... i have convinced myself that at the moment im better off going little n often for the exercise.. but i think i might have to get one before we come back to the UK :p ... Out here you are actually more likely to get strange looks if you are trudging along with heavy bags... you even see kids n teenagers out doing the shopping on their own with them :T .

My mum has 1 of those 4 wheel jobbies.... god she can load it down..but its brilliant and means she doesn't have to use her stick... and she plonks the shopping basket on to to go round the shop..and even has those bungey luggage straps so she can fasten extra carriers on top :rotfl:
Here they also have a shopping basket..imagine a metal frame like in the shops, but its covered in different funky fabrics and has a zip on lid and a padded handle..so a bit like a cross between a shopping basket and a cookery basket :D ...ok enough waffle about trolleys :p

Today is a grocery NSD... asked hubby to pick up some more fresh milk... then he reminded me that we have some long life :T so that will be fine until i hit the naffi at the weekend for a whoopsy hunt ;)

Im all excited as im getting quite a few gaps in the freezer... then i realised i was only excited as i am planning on trying to fill them back up at the weekend :o

Have taken some minced beef out of the freezer -so im doing meatballs in tortilla wraps (dough out of freezer too ;) ) with salad and some coleslaw i made yesterday with yellow pepper in mmmm

Also have quite a lot of cheese..so i think i will take some of the whoopsed dough out of the freezer and make some more marmite n cheese twists to keep hubby going over the weekend :D

Im nearly half way through my budget... but not to worry as a lot of what i have fetched has been frozen for another month.....
Have almost convinced myself that im buying myself another small chest freezer for the basement..well im hoping that all these veggies im having a bash at growing again are going to give me far too many to eat straight away..... im going to wait until everything gets going and then if i think we are going to have gluts then i will get another :o ..mind if i get one from a German shop i don't have to pay tax..so it makes sense to get on here.... says she trying to convince everyone and herself :rotfl:

Right i will get off and get something done,,, may re-jig the freezers again and see how much room i can make :D

sorry I can't remember who asked..but the weightloss thread i use is -
    old style weightloss part 3 :D ....

  • Hi everyone

I have a bright red trolley that I bought a couple of years ago in Habitat, cost me £10 but it's made of really strong fabric and the wheels are really sturdy, love it and it saves me having to get cabs home after shopping, don't use it much anymore though only when I go to buy fruit and veg that's heavy. I have a damaged disc and struggle to carry to much stuff. I love my trolley and don't care much what people think, and it's small enough to fit in my backpack when not being used.

    Cheers

victory, poundland is pretty good for toilerties as well if you have one of those, i got colgate last week from their one bogof (buy one get one free) so it only worked out at 50p a tube. have had the pump despensers of crest from their before for £1 (they are good for thwe kids as they dont waste as much)

just been down to post some letters and managed to walk past the shops without going in:T . noticed hole in the wall is out of order so tomorrow may be a compulsory nsd as well if a cant get money till saturday :rotfl: .

i use a trolly on saturdays to do the market shop (all the fruit and veg) ive just recovered it as it was really tatty tartan that had seen better days. only cost £3 for a nice bit of dark blue canvas to cover it got enough left to make a couple of shopping bags

....so just time to update my signature, up to £81.87 of my budget, had to spend £5.23 in Mr S yesterday, and there's still 20 days to go!!! Not sure if I am feeling confident?!?!

    A couple of other updates...

    * - tried freezing the baby plum tomatoes, when used in a pasta disk straight from frozen, yes the skins did slip off but i thought this made it all the more yummy and the tomatoes still actually tasted like tomatoes

    Question?:

1 - has anyone tried freezing the mushrooms (cooked or uncooked)? Any successes?

2 - bread making, so on average how much to people think a loaf costs to make? Noticing how much bread is rising (in cost) and it seems as though I'm buying the bread I don't really like cos the ones I likes are £1.20+ per loaf.....so was thinking of lending my friend's BM to have a go before buying one.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.....just waiting to hear if i've been successful at my interview yesterday

I've one of those trolleys...used it years ago before having a nice proper pram to put the shopping on:p Trouble now is, if I put the shopping in the trolley, I can't lift the trolley into the back of the car:eek: Might get it out tho, so that when the offspring take Pup for a w-a-l-k [yep...he can read too:rotfl: ]I can trot along & do some shopping...or maybe not... cuz if I can't carry it I won't buy it...oh  decisions decisions!

Looks likely a NSD apart from petrol, but I'm not shouting too loudly cuz my SIL has to pick up her poor pooch this afternoon. I'm taxi-ing for them, but the vet is one of those Pets R4U places:o

Thanks for the Choc Cake Recipe--:o the name escapes me & my 'list' has been snaffled for a phone message, but I'll try that out once I get some new tins. I'll go have a look-see at Lakeland's site methinks, cuz we don't have Poundstores or such around here:mad:

Had a ponder re: giant jaffa cake, & thought about spreading a thin layer of marmalade on the sponge first... wuddiya fink?

  • CLAIR2305 I freeze my mushrooms, I try to get them when reduced then slice them then freeze. I bung them straight from the freezer into allsorts of things, I also put them straight from the freezer on to the HM pizzas. HTH
I'm off to Mr T, we have friends comeing tommorrow so I'd better get some lunch things. It's HM burgers for tea tonight, so I need to get some buns too. DS needs new trainers so i can feel an expensive day ahead:eek: .

  • Hi everyone,:hello:
will update sig in a mo and read the rest of yesterdays and todays thread.
spent a total of £22.35 today.
£8 on sack of 25kg pots:eek:, £6.75 on meat and £7.60 down the market on bread and fruit.
A bit shocked at price of spuds, but suppose wanted to support local grocers and didn`t want to trawl around just to check out prices for spuds, but will now keep my eyes peeled for farmshops and laybys for prices.

Just wondering how much other people pay for a 25kg of pots and where they get them from?.

OH NO, just remembered i`ve forgotten eggs. Oh well, maybe go to mrTs tonight and get some and check out the whoopsies aswell. ;)

  • clair, i froze sliced uncooked mushrooms and they work out fine for cooking with.

and for bread, well 1.5kg of strong white flour costs 48p at the mo in most of the supermarkets and once you get over the initial outlay for ingrediants and add a little for the leccy you use prob works out at 20pish a loaf

  • Morning all, not posted on here for a bit, i will try and catch up but theres so many new posts lol. Hope everyone is doing ok :)

I did my shopping on Thurs at Asda, then onto Aldi for a few bits - came to £38.15 (included washing liquid and razor blades for both me and OH) which was better than i thought, then £3 at the local shop on Sunday for milk, bread and jaffa cakes (but these were an essential ;) not for me but for jellybean you understand) so that brings my total for last week to £41.15. I'll add that to my sig in a minute.

We've been away for a few days so didn't have to do any meals then and my gran gave me some things last week so tomorrows shop should be quite small as OH is away 4 days next week and DD and I will use whatever is in :)

    Take care all
