Well done Bertiebots! :T :T You should be rightly proud of yourself and the kids are going to love you for it when they get camping next year.
Thats inspired me to get my 'walley trolley' out again. It used to come out once a month when I visited the farmers market so I could buy sacks of onions and carrots. Haven't been in ages but I'm going on Saturday so I'll have to dust my little wheely friend down again.
The joy of it is that I always set out pulling it along but 100 yds down the path I'll start doing puppy eyes at my teenage sons and DS1 is a sucker for that and ends up taking over. Love being a mum of teenage lads... they're so easy to wrap around your finger.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Evening all, hope everyone is well and keepng on track.
BigMummaF
Apologies for the delay, i couldnt find where I had put the recipe for the SW Choc Cake and have now found it.
SW Chocolate Cake
5 Scan Bran
3 beaten eggs
1 level tbsp golden syrup
1oz cocoa powder
½ mug sweetener
Soak the Scan Bran in boiling water to soften. Then drain and mash.
Mix all the ingredients together and pour into a microwavable bowl.
Microwave on high for 7 minutes. When cooked the cake will be springy to the touch and will have pulled away from the side.
Its nothing like a true chocolate cake but does me If I want something chocolate and cakey.

Self inflicted guilt trip saw me at the shops again. The idea of making the kids getup at 6:15 is just plain mean. If I get them out of bed, dressed and out the door I can let them have an extra 15 mins. Means I need to take breakfast with me so needed to nip out for a small carton of milk (only had 2 pinters mutter mutter) and found some reusable plastic picnic bowls in the cupboard. Talked into choc chip biccies by the monsters who were starving after swimming. Total unplanned spend £1.07 but if it saves the monsters being grumpy at night then it'll be worth every penny.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Thanks I will try that. But not today, running late all week I have been.
Will have to wait till I get some spare time again.
Making 2 different meals tonight. Chicken based, but a piri-piri for me and a concoction of chicken, onion, peppers, carrots, and chinese Oxo cubes with rice for the rest of the family.
Piri piri was a Maggi packet mix that was a box of 10 from the £1 store when I went to Northampton. Pity we dont have similar in Oxford. Ah well. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hello girls and boys :hello:
not been around much as busy decorating, packing etc etc ready for my house move at the end of the month; there's no way I can catch up with all the posts so please excuse me being out of touch with things. I've really missed this thread, and the os forum!
I finished March GC (sorry for not posting this before, MrsM) at the grand total of £18.13 and my budget for April is also £20 as I'm using up stock, emptying the freezer etc.
so far this month I've spent £6.35 (lost the receipt but I think that was about it). Freezer is getting a bit low and I can see some strange concoctions looming to use up odd things left in there - I have a big bag of sliced green beans which I love so no prob using them, but I found a big bag of frozen mixed veg - would mixed veg make a good soup with some seasoning and stock?? or maybe veg pasties?
good luck everyone!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
