Morning, off to Sainsburys to keep my first receipt ever I think:D I love this thread it is so informative and motivational, I will be looking more for bargains although it is early in the day for those from Sainsburys but every little helps:rolleyes: , I am going to have to get a lot of store cupboard tins etc because our freezer broke and is in the incapable hands of Comet (they would not loan us one for health and safety reasons:rolleyes: ) so I am working on tins/fridge at the moment until they get it sorted, our nearest I celand closed which I miss for the cheapest cereals and frozen chicken, Sainsburys are always more expensive for that and Waitrose which is even nearer...forget it:eek:

  • Morning all,
First shop of my second week of my first GC [hope that makes sense!!!]
Mr T up to his old tricks once again, needed sunflower oil, 68p [I think] last time I bought it, now £1.08!!!! so decided to use up my olive oil first, then check Aldi & Lidl.
Anyway, total cost of shop £22.36, paid only £11.26 after MOC!!! :j I think the SA would have taken ALL my MOC if I had given them in, but felt enough was enough, will remember to go to her next time!!

Will try to do a supermarket trawl whilst DD2 is at training this pm. We only have Mr T in our town. Next nearest town for any decent choice is 14 miles away, so obs only go when DD's are there training.
Right, off to make carot & corriander soup, yuk!! for DH 's dinner tonight. Cooked bacon joint, made coleslaw,& HM bread for DH & DD's dinner. I am at work tonight so it'll be sandwichs for me.
Well on target for Aprils GC!!!!
2011, this will be my year .
  • went shopping yesterday 1st time in such a long time might be as long as a year i went to sainsburys i was on a mission to get the cheapest milk and bulk buy it up lol and sainsburys it was had the cravendale for 2 for £2 so i got 10 lots of it, most of which is now happily in my freezer. did pick up a few bits and was surprised to see they were price matching a lot of things with tesco, but still i only got a fw hthings my tesco delivery had run out of as they were about hte same price and some veg that was reduced to use tonight. did pick up some gravy browning as i saw it there and had already done a search to know my tesco did not stock any. Spent £23.30 and was ok about that as i did spend £10 on milk. just got to keep all spending now to bear minimum as only need fresh V& F for the month
    Still Trying :o

I have just tried to make the giant jaffa cake but unfortunately the jelly has soaked right into the flan case.
For future reference what should I do? I wondered whether I should leave it to thicken up a little bit before trying to pour it on.
Or should I just try to spoon it on really thinly and then wait for that thin layer to set before I pour the rest on.

You need to let the jelly set a little (if you keep stirring it, it stops it forming a skin) and cool down a bit before pouring on the sponge. I have had this happen with fruit flans using the premade flan cases.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

I got a job!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I celebrated by pushing a trolley round Asda. Most noticable bargains - Comfort Pink concentrated fabric conditioner is 1/2 price at 64p, one of the few luxuries I regularly treat myself to. I love nice smelling bedding. Also lots of whoopsies from the meat dept. and 1/2 price school winter tights in the sale. Total spend £31.17 and I gained a £2 gift voucher for pointing out I'd been overcharged.
Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.50
