Well done Mrs M - a fantastic weight loss. Congratulations frankerooney ! Happy birthday JennyBee !

Hoping for another NSD. Have to take dd for new trainers but that's not coming out of my grocery budget.

A chicken day for me today on my diet - lunch is chicken salad sandwich with mustard mayonnaise & dinner is grilled chicken & baked sweet potato and salad. This diet better be worth all the effort !
So little money - so much time

  • Have updated my sig as I had to buy more milk yesterday. Also got some eggs from a friend but don't know how much they are yet, so will add that on later. This month is going a bit better for us. Although we've managed to stay under budget (JUST) each month, it's been a real struggle. I'm hoping this month will be a little bit easier. I'm still not doing very well with menu planning, but I am doing a lot of copying and pasting of recipes, so that next week when I am off work I can transfer them all in to my recipe book and then do a proper plan for May! Well, that's the theory, but we'll see how I get on....

    NSD yesterday again!

Today should be the same - have brought lunch in to work with me - left over quiche and potato salad that I went bonkers and made earlier in the week.

I'm hoping to get to at least next weekend (18th) without any significant spends - probably just fruit?

Anyone know what the offers in Aldi for F&V are this week?

    Thanks!

I wish I could find my diary to record my spending
Spent £5.99 on fish yesterday - If I don't find it I'll scream as I keep all the recipes in it that I've gleaned from here.
At last I feel in control of my purse. It no longer opens automatically once I step in a supermarket, but I'm waiting for the day the zip is too stong for me then I know I've cracked this spending habit.

Just under £80 for veg/fruit, milk and bread for the rest of the month - tight but I think I'll do it.

Did anyone hear a programme on radio four at luchtime yesterday where it said food has risen between 10%-20%. The supermarkets disputed this, saying 2%. One farmer on a phonein said that last year he received 8p for the wheat in one loaf of bread. This year it has risen to 18p for the same amount. The bread we use has risen by 28p, surely the extra 18p has not all been eaten up with the cost of fuel (cooking and diesel)!!! - Who's making the profit?
January food 175.00 spent 181.60 oops nothing left. £4000 challenge/3384.49 left
    heating oil £396.69,

I know it's your b'day & all, & do wish you Salutations & Very Best Wishes for Good Health & Much Happiness, but would you be [STRIKE]sober[/STRIKE] able to post recipes sometime soon please:D

I've made lemon drizzle traybake, fruity cookies and chocolate fridge cake

It was obviously a disasterous doing day for me yesterday; had a go at the giant jaffa cake & another choccie crispy thingie & both will probably end up in the bin:o ; spent around thirty quid AGAIN in the pet shop & MrT:mad: ; then to cap it all had unexpected guests & completely forgot Pup going back to skool:o .
I was planning on spending today baking but perhaps I shouldn't bother cuz I can't get anything right these days:angry:

IfOnly, when you post, look along the menu bar underneath the bit that says "Message:"
& you'll see a capital A with a coloured line under it---that's the one that changes the colour of the font---click on it & a lovely array of colours are there for the choosing.

Someone was asking about the money left at the end of the month...I choose to use it as a 'gift fund' that will hopefully help towards both food & prezzies for crimbo in particular. I try to get as many gifts out of the GC as I can, but then we don't do 'mega' unless sharing the cost with other family members....that's how I got my breadmaker, as a Mother's Day/ Easter/ home improvement gift from the offspring, cuz they eat more bread than I do anyway:D
