I need some quick help.I decided to make a quiche and was busy singing along to very loud music as I have the house to myself.I got carried away and added the stuff before I'd baked the pastry blind like I usually do. I've stuck it in the oven anyway at a lower temp but a bit unsure if it will work.
What do you guys recommend? what temp should i use and for how long considering pastry not cooked.
Oh I do hope I've not spoiled it.Music on low now :o

  • My neighbours are close on complaining about me belting out songs whilst cooking, I'm sure. I think it will be ok - I'd cook it a little slower than usual, I think your instincts are right. However, I expect you know by now, as you posted ages ago! I have been catching up with this thread for hours!!

Oh hold on - weird - the thread is 2 hours behind real time - or is it me?!!!!

Molly i always just shove it all in at once:o and cook on a low heat, it`s ages since i made one but seem to remember that i do it for about 40 mins, just realised that was in the other house in my lovely old gas oven but now we have electric and i`ve not made one in it yet.
I think it will be fine, fingers crossed for you

Ps Thanks Mrs M i hope to have a look over there later.
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
  • MrsM you are an inspiration - literally, as I have started a weight loss plan too! I'm not joining the thread, as to read this one and that one I would have to give up work and sleep, and I can't afford to go to WW or SW to be humiliated each week, but hey, I know what not to eat, and what to eat - it is all about planning. Have lost 6 lbs in the last week (first week is always impressive, will slow to a healthy 2lb a week (I hope) now) and am feeling pretty chufty!

Seem to have spent loads of my budget but I do have loads in, and my freezer is trembling under the pressure - Weezl, I really do need another one, or to break into my neighbours' houses and utilise their spare shelves maybe? After spending about an hour looking for a carrot cake recipe in the March thread I've bought a notebook for all the fab recipes on here. I know some of you cut and paste, but I like to have the recipe book in the kitchen, splattered with butter etc!
  • Well, I knew it would happen, DD goes back to playschool and off I go to Tesco :o . I needed a milk and a few other bits like more tissues and cold & flu sachets for this cold that won't go away :(.

Anyway, I spent £13.59, this including 60p worth of coupons sneaked through the self scan  and 4 bags of Walkers Sensations which are on bogog atm (they are OH's absolute faves). I have hidden them until he asks for them :D. There we no whoopsies worth getting - a sad day.

Will catch up with the thread later. I'm going to cook Applemella's Bean Burgers for tea, it was posted on the March GC thread, so will let you know how they were :D.

    :D:D:DCongratulations frankerooney:D:D:D

Oh dear, from a case of elminiation (ie working out what money I have left in my grocery bank account) I have spent £ 159.07.  .

Two weeks of school holidays did us no favours, eventhough I tried to be sensible and buy them pints of milk (at 40p) instead of coke (over £1) when they were thirsty, whilst out, but anyway damage is done.

I shall be able to recover £ 13.99 for a pack of light globes that DH bought    . We had about 5 lights that weren't working, so I asked DH to buy some. He bought two multi-packs @ £13.99 - one pack is gonna have to go back though.

I am still about 12 pages behind but noticed someone mentioned that the Sainsbury's 2L for £2 cravendale milk was not cheaper than the 4pt (2.272L) but I have to disagree:

    Cravendale is 50p per 500ml
    S/M Brand milk is £1.34 / 2.272 L = 59p per 500ml

I have joined WW again today, so am going to probably spend a fortune buying 'low fat foods' , but the weight has to shift as I am not a happy bunny. Tried Mrs M's OS weight loss, but it isn't working for me - I like the food too much to be able to control my portion sizes :rotfl: .

i just made a basic pastry dough
    8 oz plain flour
2 oz lard ( I used veggie alternative)
    2 oz butter.

Rubbed it all together and added water. Then left it in fridge for 30 mins.

I fried some red oinion, mushroom and red pepper in olive oil then mixed in a tin of tuna.

I was meant to bake the pastry blind (but forgot)

Then I add the filling and top with 5 eggs and 200ml of milk.Sprinkle a bit of cheese on top and bung it in oven.because I didn't part bake pastry I cooked at 140 for 40 mins then turned it to 180 for 15 mins :)

Never really follow a recipe these days.Everything seems trial and error :o
