I totally haven't kept track this month, but not doing too badly i think. Since the 24th feb (my start for the march month) I've done 2 aldi shops. And yesterday got loads of reduced stuff at tesco (14p cherry tomatoes, 50p eggs, 40p potatoes etc). Shop came to a fiver and I got it down to 32p by getting rid of some coupons. Nice checkout girl didn't seem to mind putting through internet coupons for £2 off nicorette etc, will definitely go to her till again!2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0

Hi everyone.
Apologies if this has been asked before. i have quite a lot of parsnips and would prefer not tothrow them away so will attempt to freeze. When freezing, do I have to blanch then first?
Thanks

Frankerooney - congrats!
MrsMoneypenny, my local poundland had 2lb nonstick loaf tins for well a pound, I haven't used mine yet but I washed it and it seems sturdy enough, so maybe a bargain buy?
Phew, just caught up with all the posts, I go away for a few days and then everyone posts at once! lol Not spent anymore yet but off to T's later for milk and fresh stuff so will adjust my sig later.
MrsM - I think you have missed me from the March list - I spent £200. Thanks.
Oh no, its after noon already, where did the morning go (where else? MSE!)

I always mash the potatoes let them cool and freeze in portions in polythene bags.
They do end up a bit on the wet side as they give up a lot of water as they thaw but they`re fine, i don`t add any butter or milk to the mash if i`m going to freeze them

Hi again,
in Mr M this week the butchers style sausages were 2 for £2 so i bought 2 packs, one pack i skinned and added to the mince and other stuff to make spicy meatballs instead of just buying the plain sausagemeat, they`re in the oven now and smell gorgeous.
Just out of the oven are some sausage bites i made with the rest, i skinned the sausages and cut each into 4, dipped in beaten egg and rolled in toasted breadcrumbs with garlic powder and baked in the oven for about 25 mins, these are lovely too and will make the sausages go further, think we`ll have some with hm potato wedges.
The slow cooker is also on with Weezl`s tomato dahl in, i found i didn`t have two tins of tomatoes to put in only one so i added a carton of passatta and a tin of baked beans so fingers crossed for that onei`ll post the verdict when it`s done and i`ve tasted it.
Congrats to Frankerooney
Catch up later.

Somebody mentioned recently that they had done chilli con carne with beef chunks instead of mince. I've got two packs of braising steak in the freezer - can somebody post a link to the recipe they used?
