How about stewing some fruit down and adding a bit of sugar for sweetening? If you use the tiniest of water it'll concentrate the flavour and the juices would go syrupy. I think?
Mmmm! Jus thought chhoped peaches and concentrated peaches (ie slowly boiled down) with passionfruit and Mango would be DELISH!!!
Thanks faye, mangoes seem to be a popular suggestion - I guess because of their strong flavour - have to try that on the little monkeys.

NSD for us yesterday.
Our new freezer will be delivered on Thursday. But the fridge only seem to work when it wants too. Looks like, we might have to buy a new fridge.
And I was hoping for a low spend month!I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
NSD for me yesterday too.:T
Hoping for one today - have lunch at work and I'm planning meatless garlic kiev and low fat oven chips for tea out of the freezer.
I'm hoping to drag out the no spending until the end of next week as I'm travelling with work for much of next week and shoudl have enough to see me through the weekend - famous last words though!;)0 -
Morning everyone :hello:
i updated my sig yesterday but didn`t post as i was too ashamed
i`ve hardly any money left to last the next two weeks and what is left will probably get spent on the animals lol.
In all fairness there is still £15 that i can steal back that i added on extra at the beginning of the month but will only do that if i`m desperate, looks like i`ll be trying a freezer/storecupboard challenge all of my own lol
Our (notice the our not my there) was an extra outing to the supermarket and buying things that we don`t really need, they had happy chickens for the first time in weeks so we bought one and now i need to update my meal plan, we did also buy things like batteries which were on offer and knocked the price up and i was tempted not to include them but then decided tough! they`re on the recipt so they are included after all.
On a brighter note i`ve made lots for the freezer and yesterday made hot cross buns and hobnobs amongst other savoury things. Later i`ll be making spicy meatballs and maybe sausage rolls.
Interesting to read about the price of tomatoes and rice going up as i haven`t really noticed, if they do start to climb i can see the spare room getting a couple of carrier bags of toms added to the junk thats already stacked in there as we use loads.
WEEZL - how much water do you use in your tomato dahl recipe please? i may make this later today if i have chance. Thanks in advance.
Right best get off my a**e and into the kitchen.
Nice to see everyone doing so well.

Went out wiv me muvva & spent an absolute fortune:o in Wilkies.....
Bargains included:-
Soda Crystals that are really fine granules, for 52p
Cotton wool buds on the baby section, 300 for 38p [need these to clean Pup's ears]
Denture tablets for the tea pot & loos 30p:j
Dusters [disposable-just not every time;) ] box of 25 for £1:09
Wooden skewers, approx 100, 50p
Wisdom toothbrushes, pk of 4, £1:69
To be fair, £7 was on a wooden bread bin---didn't think of how I was gunna store HM bread when I began, just used to fold down the bag on the shop bought, but that don't werk wiv probba bred doo-it!:p
The £28:70 included several components for making gifts [see 'Hampers' & 'How Can I Make This' threads]along with a good bit of cleaning stuff too. I like to use those paper-type dusters cuz of all the allergy sufferers in the house but don't see them as often these days; that lady from 'Houses Behaving Badly' said using fabric conditioner on a cloth duster helps prevent static, but perfume from that will start me sneezing before I even get to the dust:eek:
Looking for recommendations for:-
keeping a 'pleather' suite in good nick without using polish---yep, allergies again:o---maybe those wipes, with little or no perfume so will probably have to pay a bit more:mad:I think I've read summat about using olive oil tho, but probably dreamt that:p
flan baking tin, had one years ago but it went rusty, & fear I may have to go to somewhere like Debenhams.
individual size baking tins
something to do those huge yorkshire puds in; had thought about a casserole dish?
Total spends yesterday were £40:25, including a prezzie for a June b'day I]& charity shop trousers for me:D ...technically not GC, but I'll discount them if I run out of dosh before pay day.[/I

Good morning all
I'm gutted that I spent £3.03 last night, puppy eyes from my son 'Mum I really need to go to Asd* because my friend got this really great free toy' and as I don't buy him lots of toys thought OK it's on my way home. The free toy turned out to be inside a Kinder Egg! I was not impressed and I ended up buying some vanilla extract which I've almost run out of, butter, Heinz sponge pudding reduced to 50p a bag of pasta - I noticed the prices going up and far less choice (Durham Wheat shortages worldwide). That's it now, I'm staying out of the shops for the rest of the week, well that's my intention.
Off to update my sigI won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

Hi everyone
Well I've spent £25.69 from my grocery challenge so far. Bought some food from ASDA for the month, also bought 2 baking trays for slices, although it seems they only charged me for one?, so bonus there, some baking ingredients and also some vinegar from Oriental City, that cost £2.20 for 5 litres for cleaning and other purposes. It is so cheap and useful that they sell it in such large containers.
I also got some Daz from Tesco, hate shopping at tesco but forgot to buy some handwashing powder and margerine. After using my tesco £2.00 voucher I only ended up paying £0.07 so that was a good result too.
Cheers

Hi again.
Sorry forgot to say spent the day yesterday making mary berry lemon tray bake posted by someone on here and the lava cakes. The cake is all cut up into squares and frozen for when I go back to work next week, and the lava cakes are delicious, thanx so much for the recipes. Am going to try and make Jamie's Chocolate Fridge Cake and the chewy seed health bars tomorrow, then my freezer will be fully stocked and ready for when I return to work next week.
I also made up my menu plan till the end of May, jikes! am I keen or what, so it seems it's all done now. Hope you all have a great day.
Cheers
