Bit nervous with people getting banned/refused.
I wont use my clubcard.. so ill say i havnt got one if they try and take it back. If i get stopped Ill ask all the managers information.. and make sure hes fully aware ill be going straight to Trading Standards.
Someone said about it being advertised... i never saw this advert on TV but who are the organisation that regulate tv adverts. Ill threaten to goto them as well.

You don't need to be too nervous, especially if it's your first foray. You can always add the clubcard points to your card within the next two weeks at customer service, anyway. Just be charming and firm when it comes to having a full refund and being given the goods for free, don't let them fob you offThanks to all who post constructively.

Was down in Watford this morning and had a quick look around. Everything was correctly priced except oddly enough the same bacon joints I got in my local tescos yesterday.
I thought about it for a bit then figured I could grab 3 and stick them in the freezer for Christmas.
Anyway I went to CS and told them the problem. The conersation went like this:
Me: "Hello, I've been overcharged...[description of how it says £3.42/kg on the shelf and £3.44/kg on the packet and CS woman goes off bringing back the shelf label which DOES say £3.42]"
CS: "Our policy is not to refund for weight mistakes [not exact words but close enough]"
Me: "I'm sorry? I didn't ask for a refund, I simply said I had been overcharged."
CS: "You haven't been overcharged"
Me: "Huh? The shelf label says 3.42 and the pack says 3.44. Hang on a moment I'll check with the calculator on my mobile....[I do the sums and it comes up 2p difference]...see?"
CS: "It's not our policy to refund on weight mistakes"
Me: "Okay...but you agree I've been overcharged, yes?"
CS: "No sir, you have not been overcharged"
I couldn't believe the CS woman was standing there blatantly lying to me and I said so. She then called the manager who said he (she) wuld be down eventually but they were busy so it may be a while. I didn't have time to wait so I just insisted on a refund and they could have their bacon joints back. She wasn't happy but she did it.
I then requested her to write down her name as I was intending to complain to their head office about the fact that I had been lied to regarding the overcharge (I never once mentioned expecting to get the goods & refund - as far as she was concerned I only wanted back the difference). She then wrote down only her first name and refused to give her surname. So I asked her to write down the name of the store manager. She wrote down the name of the CS manager...I insisted on the name of the store manager and she grudgingly wrote that. I then asked her to write down that I had not been overcharged (what she was telling me) and she refused point blank. I was gobsmaked and asked her why she would not write down what she was telling me. She just said that she would not do it. At that point I ran out of time and had to leave.
Personally I think it's disgusting that they overcharge then lie to your face about it. Then when asked for the lie in writing simply refuse to comply without giving a reason.
Terrible, terrible CS. Whatever happened to the customer is always right - especially when the maths prove it?
Oh and while I was waiting for her to get the shelf label I noticed they had a sign up saying that they only take coupons if you buy the goods concerned.
*shakes head* How can Tesco get away with such inconsistent CS policies and still have the majority of people think they are the best supermarket on the high street?
******Off Topic rant removed at Redfox's request. ******0 -
I know I am probably overlooking something, but how do you know it will be the wrong price at the checkout?0

99% of the time products (at least meat + cheese that's priced by weight) scan through the till at the price on the pack. You can check this at one of the instore price check points if they're present.
So, if it says (and this is a specific and common example) rolled pork shoulder joints £2.65/Kilo on the shelf, but the pack has been priced up at £2.68/Kilo, you're getting less meat for your money than the shelf tag says you will- hence you've been overcharged.
Bad luck Whirly- as with the coupons Tesco can't seem to get their staff to apply this policy consistently. The tunnel is in Gerrards Cross- I must say I'd be pretty disinclined to get any train that goes under the non-collapsed section now......0 -
I think I remember reading in the Grocery Mag recently at work that the issue with the tunnel and the store has resulted in the store not going to open as the site is unsafe due to futher damaged to the tunnel system. I will need to recheck on this though0

With regards to the comments posted by Whirly:
It was not the store building that collapsed, it was the tunnel roof. The store was not affected, and is being built in a different area to the collapse. The plans are for the store car park to be built over the tunnel.
Independant engineers have now announced that the tunnel is safe for re-opening, and Network Rail are happy with the repairs which have been done.
There were no trains in the tunnel when it collapsed. The nearest train was stationary at the platform nearby.0
