talk talk uswitch offer

After seeing MSE's recommendation, I have today signed up for Talktalk's offer, which ends in 2 days time. However, Martin said that this offer included the connection charge, but when I applied through the link, it said that I would be charged £29.99 connection charge! Martin should be made aware of this error and change his advice accordingly. Or has Talktalk made a mistake?
Has anyone else noticed this?
I have let Martin know. He thought the £30 charge was only if you wanted wireless. He wasn't aware of this connection fee, it's buried very deep !Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Hidden away at bottom of this page in small print.
"Payment by direct debit only. £29.99 connection fee applies."

This is correct but they do give you a "free modem" with ethernet connection.
You`ll be getting £21 back anyway, if you use the link for Uswitch.
Most ISP`s charge a connection fee because they have to pay BT a fee.
It`s sometimes waived if you sign up for 12 months but in the small print there will be a claw-back if you leave before the time is up.
Also note that TalkTalk is a 18 month contract.0 -

The fact remains that it wasn't even noticed by MSE, therefore Martyn has been publicising it using incorrect information about the cost. Which suggests that it was hidden on purpose.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I`ve just clicked on the link in post 13 and it takes you to "compare our BB deals" and at the bottom of the page it clearly states:
Connection fee of 6p applies to all chargeable calls excluding calls which are charged a fixed fee per call. 18 month minimum term when transferring line rental for Talk2 International, Talk2 Total, Talk3 International, Talk3 Total. Payment by direct debit only. £29.99 connection fee applies.
Hardly hidden0 -
You do need to read right to the bottom of the page to find it.
And anyone going for the deal on recommendation from MSE Martin (who has mistakenly stated it included the connection charge) could be forgiven for describing it as hidden.0 -
Exactly, Quentin.

No I don`t.
I must admit that I never read ML`s article.
I applied to switch to TT a couple of weeks ago through www.rpoints.com
I should go "live" on the 3rd April and have already received my "free" modem, cables and splitters.
But like everything else,!!!!!!,you need to read the nitty gritty before finally commiting yourself.
Surely a god-like figure like ML wouldn`t set out to deceive.
eh, would he? :money:0 -
No, but I get the impression that Talktalk would...Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
