Thanks so much for this forum. I was duped into applying for £15 cashback when buying from a reputable sports clothing site just before Christmas, little did I realise I had given Shopper Discounts the authority to take £10 a month from my credit card. I did what they asked, sent my receipt for my purchase to them, expecting £15 cashback in return, or deducted from my next purchase but no...instead, you get a voucher sent through the post telling you that you will receive another £15 cashback when you make another purchase from a whole list of companies. If you have signed up to this please check your credit card statement! It is costing you for the privelige of being a member! I contacted them today and demanded a refund and removal of my details, otherwise I would be contacting companies who advertise for them - they replied immediately and my refund will be in my account in the next 5 working days! Phew.0

Some months ago I have noticed a payment of £8 pounds, thinking it was some one-off payment i must have forgotten about. Couple of weeks ago I reviewed my account and noticed that i have been paying this for months and month, logged into the website and was just very confused, as i didnt remember ever signing up for any shopping website.
I am so glad i have found this forum!! Many many thanks to all of you who have been posting advise and their stories. I dont quite feel as much as fool as I did, when I thought I must just have a really bad memory.
The shopping discount guys have been drawing from my regular bank account since April 2008 - the first payment is exactly 1 month after I paid for an Easyjet flight. I do vaguely remember clicking on some money-off offer, but then it got to involved and I didnt even take that offer anyway. Now I know, that that was already enough to send my bank details to some dodgy company!
Based on all of your advice, I have sent a mail earlier tonight to customerservice@shopperdiscountsandrewards.co.uk with the subject 'Cancellation and refund demanded'. Within a minute I had a cancellation confirmation from their automated reply system.
Now the next question is - will I get my money back? The single £8 withdrawals have now grown to over £160. They obviously make lots of money and bank on people not following up or not even noticing.

It only takes two steps:
1-A phone call (2-3minute), confirm your email, name and address (and you'd like all your money back, as you didn't know that you signed up to this scam).
2-Posting of the claim form below. (which they email to you as a result of the phone call):
Quote:
This notice confirms that your Membership in Shopper Discounts & Rewards has been cancelled as of **/**/****.
Your cancel confirmation number is: 2484####.
We have issued a refund of your Membership fee. This refund will appear as a credit to your account within the next 10 working days.
Please let us know if your request was resolved to your satisfaction. All responses submitted will go to our Customer Service Director for review because your feedback is important to us.

I have recently been the victim of the "Shoppers Discount" misleading membership sign up scheme, and am appalled that large organisations such as The Trainline, Easy Jet, Photobox and Interflora have allowed this company to become affiliated. The fact that these companies have allowed their valued customers to be misled into thinking that they are participating in their own genuine discount and reward schemes, and have not ensured that they alert customers to the fact that they are not involved, and that there could be the possibility of monthly subscription payments if customers are transferred is beyond belief.
The amount of money being extracted from unsuspecting members of the general public by this company must run into hundreds of thousands of pounds. They are hiding behind multi national companies whose reputations allow them to get away with both immoral and suspect operational tactics.
If you have been duped by this company, or have bought anything online recently I urge you to check you bank account or credit card statement to ensure Shoppers Discounts are not allowed to continue to operate this underhand manner. I would also ask you to contact any major company who you find have allowed this parasitical organisation to use them to perpetrate this underhand operation.
If you have had money taken from your accounts you will need to contact Shoppers discount on 0808 2341539. They will refund any payments made, as they are well aware that they have no right to take money from your account unless via an agreed direct debit or standing order arrangement. They quite blatantly avoid offering you this basic right via the host companies as they are well aware that 99.99% of people would decline if they honestly revealed their intentions in the first place.
Help stop this form of internet piracy as it is companies such as Shoppers Discounts that give online trading a bad name.0 -
Even though we got stung by this, it has only just come to our attention that others have been similarly caught out. We were sucked in via an easyJet booking and my business partner has only just discovered his £8 a month, so although easyJet have opted out, customers of theirs are still paying the price. We've just blogged on it. As a newcomer to the site I am not allowed to post a link, but if you put www in front of bluntyteamtalk.wordpress and add dot com at the end you will see what we've written under heading 'easyJet booking cost us £8 a month'.0

There you go Topshop http://bluntyteamtalk.wordpress.com/ and welcome to MSEMick is asking Moneybox to broadcast a warning, because even though easyJet have withdrawn from the program in recognition of their customers’ unhappiness with the scheme, it is likely that other victims are still paying the £8 a month membership fee without realising what it’s for and what has been signed up to.
Do let us know how it goes with Moneybox, we would be very interested to hear their response.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I have just noticed today a £10.00 transaction from SHOPPER DISCOUNTS and looked back on my account and can see a total of 3 payments! (£30 TOTAL!)
I had no idea what this was and strangely there is a freephone number underneath! 0800 7319935. I called this number to be told by the person on the other end of the phone that I subscribed in November after I made a purchase from M & M direct. Immediately they stated to me that they would cancel it and refund the £30.00. I didnt even have to argue, which again suggests that they are fully aware that there scan is 'barely legal' They stated that they got my card details from M & M direct! surely this isn't legal?
I vaguely remember receiving an email from M & M asking me to click a box so that I can receive 15% off my next order but certainly would never signed up to a shopper discount scam allowing them to take £10.00 of my hard earned money each month!
I am waiting on baited breath for my £30.00 refund, so watch this space.
