I joined SD&R via the JD Williams website. I knew I was joining and have saved lots more money than the £10 sub that I pay per month plus if I make a purchase from JD Williams - I joined via JD Williams web site - and send the e-mailed confirmation to SD&R (regardless of the cost - one per month - I get a nice crisp cheque for £10. this works despite the cost so £5 +P&P on pillow case - for example - gets me a £10 cheque. Then any other payments made via the SD&R website gets me typically a 10% refund. Just bought a kenwood chef plus chopper attachment and mincer attachment from the coop, best price I could find and 10% cashback from SD&R. S mill for the kenwood from Currys (only place I could find on the web with them in stock and also one of the cheapest prices I found, a new sharp microwave from Currys again 10% cashback. I've also bought loads of other stuff via SD&R. Sure it takes about 90 days to get this cheque but I can wait for this and this is in addition to the £10 from JD Williams purchases which have always come withing a month of sending the confirmation. The site also lets me pay for items with a cash back credit card
Sorry guys but I am pretty happy with this service, but then I did know I was joining - I would have been furious if I didn't - and have saved over £150 in the past few months and I'm talking cash that is now in my bank. Doesn't seem like a scam to me.
Hey Barry, don't forget to take advantage of their 20% off gift cards and vouchers, thats another £20 saving per month!!
PS - I do the same with a cashback card so I double up on savings - I can save 10% through SDR, then up to 5% with my NHScashback card at shops like Comet, B&Q, Boots, HMV etc etc0 -
For a long time I had unwittingly been charged £10 a month from Shopper Discount. Apparently it's something I signed up to (although I don't remember doing so!) when I booked coach tickets with National Express.
I called the company, explained my situation and the guy on the phone said that he would be happy to refund me the previous three months. However, I continued to complain and he then sent to me a form by E-mail. This is to request additional refunds beyond those three months that they can do over the phone.
I completed the form, sent it off and quite promptly received further communication via E-mail to say that they would refund me every month for which I had been charged £10 (this totalled at around 28 months!). It's worth making a stubborn point that you never made use of their services when you are trying to get your money back.
Good luck!0 -
I have discovered that I have paid £10 a month for over a year after making a booking in March 2011. Same sneaky signing up tactics!
Progress so far -have been offered 3 months refund from SD&R, totally NOT acceptable and Premier Inn have not even replied to my email.
It's unfortunate for both these companies that I write for a national magazine.0 -
Just booked a flight with FlyBe. I saw this offer for £20 cashback. I realise that Rewards First give a free month then start charging a fee. I had intended on getting the cashback then cancelling. I presumed it would be like TopCashBack, which I'm a member of, where Your account would show the £20 balance which you could then claim.
Having logged in it appears you have to print off a form then print off the receipt for the purchase and post it off to them. I've emailed then asking for clarification.
Has anybody acually got the reward offered at the start? If so, how is it sent? By cheque?0 -
I apologise in advance if I am hijacking this thread!
My wife signed up for a discount from Pizza hut, lured by the £10 discount. 18 months later, we realised.
She never, ever, ever received any email at all. They claimed that you get a monthly reminder email as well as the offers. They refused to refund anything.
Therefore I sent a letter demanding they return the money, send recorded delivery. Nothing came back
I lost the exact copy of the letter and the postal slip. I am however not prepared to let this drop.
I think I need to start over, but I would appreciate some advice. The wife is really really bad on the phone and would prefer to let it drop than take them on. I am on the other hand am ready to rock n roll!
Can she give me authority to deal with it ?
I would welcome a plan of attack, and am fully prepared to go to the small claims court if needs be.
I was thinking that a DPA request would be a good start as surely they would have to list any emails that they sent you ?
Once again, any advice welcome.0 -

Look at my posts numbers 1233, 1237 and 1243 on how to deal with these people. And report back to us on here with the result please.0 -
Thought I was getting a £15 voucher off my next shop and signed up for £10 a month. Assume they will email me, any easy way to get out of this. Do I have the protection of having signed up for something on line and been able to cancel within x day ?. If not and these people will be difficult, 'll cancel my card I think.0

Write to the company and tell them that you do not wish to continue and that you are withdrawing your authority for them to take cash from your account.0 -

Just phoned them, got straight through. They said I was in a 30 day trial period still and cancelled it and they gave me a cancellation number which they say will be on a email to arrived shortly. I'll update if I get this through. Hopefully this means I wont be charged anything. They were called complete savings.0
