The Uncaged website has a list of pet food producers who use ethical practices.

Iams, like many large corporations have huge marketing budgets, and can very easily gloss over their dubious practices, just as they have done in the link that frugallass posted.

I would recommend that people do plenty of research into the foods they feed their dog - amongst other things, many of the big brands use poor quality ingredients, use unnecessary colours and preservatives, waste catering oil to make the biscuits palatable, and on top of that, most are unnecessarily high in protein.

FWIW, I have fed Burns for over three years, and Tilly does really well on it.

It's your choice, but I'm pretty sure PETA don't have the same marketing budget as IAMS, and they don't obtain financial gain from recommending those who do use ethical practices.

Uncaged is a charity trying to to stop animal cruelty, Iams (P&G) are a business trying to make as much money as possible - doesn't take a rocket scientist to guess who is "massaging the truth"!!! How naive ?

doesn't matter what PETA have they should be avoided at all costs for the sake of animal rights.

but if you want the best for your animals you need to get them on the BARF diet and ignore the people who haven't researched it and claim its bad for dogs.

I think we will all have our own ideas as to who produces the best food for our dogs, or whether a BARF diet is better then a processed diet. At the end of the day it will be an individual choice.

My personal choice is to feed as high quality kibble I can find that my dog will eat. In his case its Arden Grange.High quality raw ingredients and no artificial colours or flavourings. I also think there is a lot to be said for a BARF diet yet it doesnt suit my lifestyle to feed it. So I compromise, the odd meal of meaty bones, raw fish, eggs etc. and as for treats the only processed ones he gets is his bedtime bonio - all other treats are home made or natural - ie pigs ears.

My last cocker was fed on Pedigree complete, a right heap of rubbish in my book but it was the only kibble he would eat and it certainly didnt harm him
