Totally agree with Huskydog, if its not broke then dont fix it
My last Cocker was fed pedigree complete, even though I loathed buying it, because that was the only food he would eat.I certainly wasnt going to let ethics stop my dog eating what suited him0 -
Until last month we were getting Autarky dry dog food from Costco - Loanhead one, near edinburgh.
I went in yesterday on my way back from an agility show and to my great surprise they didn't have any and the pallet space where it was is now filled with another two varieties of costco's own kirkland brand - anybody feed their dogs on this? any good? they now have two flavours plus puppy and senior varieties.
i was trying to find another supplier so checked out the autarky website and found that they sell a 15kg bag including delivery for £19.05. Seems like good value to me considering in costco it was £15 odds and cost me £2 or £3 in petrol to get there and back.
We have been delighted with Autarky and don't want to change brands, our collies love it and we are always getting comments from folks about how good their coats look. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -
We have always fed ours Autarkey from Costco. OH found the same when he went to buy some this week.
He came home with a bag of that Kirkland own brand one instead. Personally I'd have left it and gotten Autarkey from somewhere else.. but I wasn't there at the time.
The food seems ok so far. They are scoffing the lot and there have been no tummy upsets. It stinks though - makes me heave
Money wise it would still make sense for us to drive to costco for our dog food because they also have tuna in sunflower oil from there and you can get 10 tins for about £3.50. We usually buy 3 sacks of food and 50 tins of tuna per visit.0 -
Wasn't any in the Gateshead Costco either when I was there last week. Kirkland was in it's place. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I get autarky from ebay...£18.50 a sack delivered but you have to buy 2 sacks at a time.0

Check out Jollyes Pet Food Stores if you have any in your area. They usually stock Autarky. Also, some branches of Tesco stock it as well I believe.0

Hi all - getting 2 new pups in a couple of weeks - cross black german shepherd (dad) and cream/tan cocker spaniel (mum).
They are both beetches and look very much like border collies at the moment.
They will be 9 weeks when we get them and weaned onto puppy food from 6 weeks.
My main question (I'm sure there'll be loads more!!!!) is what is the best puppy food for them? We feed our cats a mixture of various pouches and James Wellbeloved biscuits.
What does anyone recommend please?
Thanks:Dcomping since august 2007, wins so far.....none! :rotfl:0 -
You need to ask what the present owner is feeding them - and by rights they should give you a weeks supply to give you time to get replacement. Don't just get `anything' - they can die VERY quickly if get dehydrated which is what happens if they get `the trots' and 2 puppies with THAT is not fun at all.
Good luck - they look really sweet.0
