I have a variable DD set up with Southern, who manage accounts for Ebico, and approx. two weeks after I receive my quarterly bill the whole amount is taken, post consumption.

I have no problem with DD as such, it is the pre-consumption estimated DD that I have a problem with. My telephone, internet etc. gets taken by DD, but they are all post-invoice, so they will be varying amounts each month/quarter.

Are there any energy companies that give a discount on DD, without the need of an (over)-estimated annual consumption?

My telephone and water(metered) are all on fixed monthly DD and, like my gas/electricty bills are not post-invoice.

Personally I rarely have a problem with any of those DDs being too high/low and building up credit/debit balances; probably because I have been with the companies some while and built up a pattern of consumption on which they base the DD.

I think the main problem is that many people are 'enticed' into changing company by an unrealistically low DD(so the websites/call centre operators get their commission) and this situation is compounded by low estimated meter readings on bills that are not corrected by the user.

IMO you will not run into problems with DD if you monitor your account closely - especially in the first few months until a consumption pattern has been established.

What you have to remember about Cardew is he`s absolutely obsessed with BGas,who he probably works for,and it`s greed culture from "Cedric the pig" to the latest obscene £1.9 million A YEAR payment it`s boss.

What he doesn`t like about Ebico is it`s Christian, charitable philosophy of helping the less fortunate in society and it`s non-profit making ideals.

I think you,ll find that you are obsessed with ebico...You seem to argue with anyone who has a different point of view regarding ebico...Quite sad really :rotfl::rotfl:

Ebico is fantastic for people on pre-payment meters and LOW users but not for people who are average to high users.....End of!

    Have a nice day!

I have just started the switch to Ebico. I did a few price comparison website and they came out top. Saving us about £200 a year. Which is what I paid for my gas last year with BG so thats a big enough saving for me to move.

I hope you didn't use U-Switch as they have yet to update Ebico's prices.

The arguement on here is irrevelant. I think it's unfair for Cardew to say that Ebico are most expensive for the majority - have you worked out the costs for every region? Taken into consideration usage figures, location, payment method, whether someone is a dual or single fuel customer? All these factors need to be taken into account. This is just you opinion on the matter.

I think what should be said is that yes, Ebico have had a price increase, along with all the companies now.. it's not a huge increase, but there might be better deals elsewhere. If you don't mind paying a little extra to help the wider community and get top customer service, then Ebico is for you. If you want the cheapest tariff and are not overly concerned about the ethos or customer service given by the company, shop around.

  • Ebico do not give great customer service.....Southern Electric give great customer service you mean as they deal with customers not Ebico....

Of course it is just my opinion.

My very firm opinion is that Ebico are more expensive for the majority - full stop.

All of the prices are available and for every region; just look at them, or put figures into a comparison network.

Now why not prove that my opinion is wrong? Give examples - I have!

Obviously there will be some very low users, particularly those who want to pay quarterly, for whom Ebico will be cheaper; but these people are in a minority IMO.

If you look back through all of my(far to many) posts on this subject I don't think I have ever been critical of Ebico in any way; in fact I have gone out of my way to praise them and recommend them.

It is not being critical to state that they are more expensive for the majority.

For the benefit of those who read this thread for money saving advice, please prove me wrong by giving specific examples and also please give reasons why you consider that those examples represent the majority of customers.

So I couldn't have been clearer about my opinion. Care to take up the challenge and demonstrate I am wrong?

EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion on these boards and a great deal of useful,money-saving information can be gleaned.

Obviously people may not agree with what`s being said but they are still entitled to voice their believes.

Yes,I`m with Ebico for the time being, because I can`t make any significant savings.
If and when the time comes that I can find a better "all round" deal,I`ll switch.
    Have a good day.
