    What were you wondering?

If you do a search on this forum you will find hundreds of posts on Ebico.

Most people like the company, its ethos and pricing structure.

Be aware that it has yet to announce its new prices and when they will come into effect.

A small company, 2makeit, their prices should be the lowest going. They have yet to increase tho expected anytime by about 15%.Good for low users, where you pay something like £500 a year or less now.
Simple bills, ethical stance, and superb administration via Southern Electric.
They also push non-profit making.( this is not a plus in my thinking)

I'm in the process of changing to them from British Gas (as detailed elsewhere on this forum) and thus far am not happy at all with them. The "we'll contact you in 2 to 3 weeks" blurb is a pack of lies. Thus far it's now been 9 weeks since my application and I've had no contact from them whatsoever. I chased them up once about 3.5 weeks since the original application and they nonchalantly told me not to worry and "we'll contact you in 2 to 3 weeks" and couldn't get me off the phone quick enough.

I think whoever has been telling us all that they're a good company is on commission from them as I've had better service from British Gas  and their (lack of) service is the whole reason for my leaving them. Work that one out.

I'm waiting until they announce their price rises but will hopefully be going with them. Snooze's post worries me somewhat as it's only the 2nd negative post that I have read about them and I too would be changing to them from BG. It does make me wonder whether it is infact Ebico that are causing the hold up or BG.

Okay, I've just belled them up again to ask !!!!!! is going on. My original application and confirmation was on 1 Feb and after the lassie (at Southern & Scottish Electric or whatever they're called) looked it up on their system she told me that they hadn't received my application confirmation from Ebico until 17 March  apparently because there's a huge backlog due to everyone moving over to them for their (currently) cheaper prices.

She apologised and told me that the application process takes 4-6 weeks from them receiving it so it could possibly be the end of April before I'm switched over from British Gas  .

As I have posted before on this forum, I found EBICO did not have the customer support I was expecting.

I do admire their objectives, and hope they sort themselves out.
  • i spoke to someone today from southern electric and he told me that ebico wont be putting their prices up anytime in the foreseeable future.
is anyone else struggling with gas prices like i am?im sick of sitting without the heating on to try and save on heating costs.

Please don't blame Ebico - it's more than likely that it's BG's gremlins who are desperately trying to hang on to anyone who is *&^|& ...enough to continue paying for arguably the poorest value in the country. When I left British Gas for another company nearly 7 years ago (i.e., when I woke up to just how ridiculously expensive they were becoming even back then) they really kicked and dragged their heels on the process. It took a lot of persistence to rid myself of them. Really it did. So it doesn't surprise me in the slightest to read that you're having such delays with the transfer now. Just keep at it and don't let any delays (& whatever's behind them) put you off!

Moving to Ebico is well worth it. I moved from Npower a couple of years back and as Npower didn't put in any objections, the process was swift, and completely straightforward. That being said, as far as rising energy prices go they've (Ebico/Equigas) almost been the country's best kept secret!

As for someone's saying that their cs is not good. Sorry... but what exactly do you want from your gas and electricity supplier? Someone in a bow tie and plus fours to serve you samplings of gas from a silver platter before presenting you with a bill printed on the finest grade of gold emblazoned paper? Or... what!? I use the online interface of SSE to pay my bills, and submit readings which are never a hassle to give online, nonetheless their phone was always answered quickly the few times I've had to call them. So no probs whatsover here! Having said that, my energy flows exactly as it did with any other company, but my bills are cheaper. Couldn't be happier with them. Why BG still has anything like millions of "customers" still completely baffles me most confoundedly. Ah well...

No, but I do expect people to do what they say they're going to do which - in the case of Ebico - was to contact me within 2-3 weeks of the application. If it hadn't been for my own 2 calls to them to find out !!!!!! was going on it would have been 9 weeks down the line without hearing a bean. Not exactly confidence inspiring is it?

If they treat their new customers like this then what kind of service can I expect once I'm "in the net" ? As I've said above, even British Gas's horrendous customer service can muster up a reply of some sort within 9 weeks.
