Don`t forget BGas`s track record of putting up prices at least twice a year so another big rise is due about July.
You said this at the same time as you stated that Ebico would not raise their prices until September.
What about last year when BG REDUCED their prices twice? and Ebico retained their prices.
You just cannot bear to face the fact that Ebico are more expensive, for many people, than almost all the other companies including BG.
The average user in UK consumes 20,500kWh of gas and 3,300kWh electricity.
With their prices for that average consumption Ebico are considerably more expensive than most other suppliers.
For the Midlands region they are £184(19%) more expensive than NPower, £83 more expensive than E-ON and £76 more expensive than British Gas.
This is supposed to be a Money Saving Website where readers should get objective advice, and not be a platform for you to display your bias toward Ebico and prejudice against BG NPower etc.0 -

The gas going up by 12% and the electric up on average 15%......Still staying with them now???? I think not!

They are not more expensive for me.
As I pointed out in previous posts,I did a comparison on UKPower, who have ALL the latest prices, and I cannot save any money by switching away from Ebico.
Even looking at BG`s click5 just for electricity,I cannot save anything.
Talking of BG,I see the the snouts are in the trough again:

"BRITISH Gas boss Sam Laidlaw sparked fury last night by revealing a pay deal worth more than £5,000 a day.
His £1.9million package was exposed after a 109 per cent rise in customer prices over the past three years.
Mr Laidlaw, chief executive of parent company Centrica, has presided over a five-fold increase in profits.
He raked in a £873,000 salary, a £753,000 bonus and other benefits totalling £244,000 last year.
The pay package was branded “odious” by a consumer watchdog.
The large profits had come at the expense of consumers, particularly pre-pay ones, said Allan Asher of Energywatch."0 -

You really don't get the point do you?
Let us agree, for the sake of argument, that BG are a money grabbing organisation, with dreadful sevice and unscrupulous executives that are overpaid. It has no relevance to the discussion.
The fact remains for all their 'massive profits' they are cheaper than the non-profit making Ebico for the majority of customers.
NPower(who you also heartily dislike) are even cheaper than BG, as are E-ON and both of those make huge profits.
So just let readers of this forum make their mind up. The situation for most consumers is:
You can go to a non-profit making company like Ebico.
OR
Pay considerably less by going to profit making company like NPower, E-ON or BG
It offends me, indeed angers me, to see these chief executives with their snouts in the trough; especially when their customer service(particularly BG) is abysmal.
However their valid argument is that we run our company so efficiently that we can make huge profits and still supply gas and electricity much cheaper than a non-profit making company like Ebico.
If anyone finds the conduct and profiteering of NPower/E-ON/BG too much to tolerate, then they are at liberty to pay extra and go to non-profit making Ebico.0 -

Hello Cardew,
Nice to see you are still on here dishing out good advice. Well I am certainly glad I listened to you and switched to Southern Electrics price fix 2008 when I did because it is certainly saving me lots of money now. At the time the saving was about £200 per annum, but now that Ebico have increased their prices, I am sure it will be considerably more than that.
Keep up the good work! By the way, where do I move to after November 2008?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

This is precisely the point that Cardew doesn`t seem able to grasp.
For you and me Ebico are the cheapest, yet he comes out with XYZ are all cheaper than Ebico.
Time after time I have said calculate your annual USAGE and then do your sums to find the best deal for yourself.
He`s so in love with BG that he blinkered to anything approaching common sense.0 -

I think, Cardew is not comparing like with like. Do these savings apply to “Quarterly Billing” as well, or are they only applicable to the dreaded “monthly Direct Debit“.
My annual electricity consumption is 2,000 kWh. Even with their new prices on quarterly billing, Ebico clocks in as the cheapest at GBP 227.00, followed by BG “Click Energy 5” at GBP 230.00. That picture changes for monthly DD: Ebico’s GBP 227.00 gets undercut by n-power’s “Sign on line” at GBP 176.00 and BG “Click” at GBP 219.00.
Do I really want to go back to the monthly DD, being at the mercy of the companies? Maybe n-power with savings of GBP 4.25 a month is worth considering, BG with some miserly 66 pence is definitely not worth it. The fact is, all the companies using DD want me to overpay while with a proper bill I can pay what I actually have used (and gaining up to 6% interest while the money is parked at some same savings account).
P.S. Even at the National Average of 3,300kWh (London Region) and quarterly billing BG “Click” works out GBP 4.65 cheaper a month than Ebico. No other supplier is cheaper.

alared,
You seem quite 'challenged' in the comprehension stakes.
I am merely pointing out that for the majority of people Ebico is more expensive than the most of the other Utility companies.
That is not something they would easily have gleaned from your posts.
Now have you understood that?
If not, I am certain I can re-phrase it in simpler language; or perhaps you have a family member who can read my posts in this thread and explain it to you in simpler words.0 -
I decided to switch to Ebico last week, when their electricity prices for the NW were:-
9.8p 3Kw/h peak
2.55p Kw/h off peak (economy 7)
Now, they are:-
13.84p Kw/h 41.2% increase
4.48p Kw/h 75.7% increase
How can they just say "price of EquiPower will rise by an average of 15%" in their recent price increases????0
